Question on Wedding Registry

Brittany, on April 12, 2021 at 6:05 PM Posted in Registry 0 6
I’m having a traditional shower and a couples shower as well (which is smaller in another state where my fiancé’s extended family lives). My future mother in law suggested adding registry items from Home Depot or Auto Zone to our registry for the couples shower, but it’s all one registry. Would it be weird to add these items...even if the people come to my traditional shower will see them?

I think it would be odd either way. Home items are for both of you. I’m sure that your FS also uses dishes, silverware, towels, etc. I’m not even sure what items you would register for at Auto Zone. New windshield wipers? I would just add some gift cards and call it a day.

I agree with the others that it would be odd to register for items from Auto Zone or Home Depot. Registry items should be items that you and your fiancé will both use.

And I'm over here trying to figure out how to add a power drill to my registry 🤷🏼‍♀️ Do what makes sense for y'all as a couple. If you think it's weird.... It's probably weird.

I'm also not sure what you would register for at Auto Zone. However, I think basic tools from Home Depot makes sense. When my husband and I moved in together, his dad gave us a housewarming gift of a toolbox including some basics like several different size and type (flathead/Philips) screwdrivers, a hammer, tape measure, wrench, etc. Having these basic household necessities are the same as registering for a blender, in my opinion, so I wouldn't really bat an eye at that. And those things are helpful for either party. I've probably used the tools as much as my husband.

While Auto Zone seems a little odd, I think registering at Home Depot or Lowe’s is a great idea! There are so many types of items there that would be useful for a couple— gardening and lawn care, tools, some home decor, vacuums and cleaning supplies, etc. A lot of these things could be more useful to a couple than typical registry items.
