Question for vow renewal invites?

Camlynn2, on April 5, 2010 at 5:15 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

Ok, so my husband and I are renewing our vows and I'm not really sure about the wording of the invites. Most sites for wedding invitations cover things like parents paying, bride and groom paying, deceased parents etc., but not too much on renewal invitation wording. Any suggestions?

Hmm...I'm curious to know too...not quite there yet though. But, I assume you word it as if the bride and groom are hosting?

Hey Analy... I've had it suggested that we put my first maiden and current last name on the brides line and his full name on the grooms line and then proceed with a typical invitation that says something about iinviting guests to share our celebration of our life together. Nothing is jumping out at me yet. It's the last name part that's kinda got me.

    We worded ours

    In the celebration of love....

    Mr and Mrs --------

Cordially invite you to the renewal of their wedding vows.

Mr and Mrs ------ were married on and will renew their vows in front of family and friends.

Here is the wording from one that I recently received:

    Two lives, two hearts

    met twenty two years ago

    developed a friendship that would

    last forever in love

It is with joy that we,

    Wife's name

    and

    Husband's name

    invite you to share

    in a celebration of live

    sixteen years of marriage

    as we renew our vows

    on Date

    Year

it could use a little wordsmithing but it gets the wheels turning.

Ok on the one that I received, they DID use the wife's first, middle, maiden and married name which I thought was overkill?

Wow 30 years! That's certainly commendable. I hope I'm blessed enough to live to see 30 years.

My precious Ladylee, you know I pray for us all to find that love that lasts. So here's a wedding wish for you and your beloved (and for all the WW brides and GTB out there)........May God bless you both. May He give you the courage it takes to stay in love, the strength to fight for that love and the wisdom to know how. Amen

That is SO sweet! Congrats Camlynn! Makes me feel a tad silly for renewing @ 1 year, but today, I think anything is worth celebrating! Smiley smile

Camlynn, if you Google "Vow renewal invitation wording" you will end up with at least a dozen sites that will give you ideas. From the very formal, to the very casual, and everything in between. There's long and flowery and short and simple - lots of ideas out there!

Wow, 30 years! That's just wonderful!

Camlyn, we are also doing a wedding renewal with all the fixing we did not have the first time around. Our invites read:

    Mr. & Mrs Jose _____

cordially request the honor of your presence at their Wedding Renewal.

    ect....

We kept it simple. letting our guests know it was a Wedding Renewal.

You use traditional wordings, but insert in place of the words "at the marriage of" to read "at the reaffirmation of the wedding vows of" and their names. Or simply--"request your presence at the renewal of their vows"
