Question about saving money on centerpieces

Michelle, on October 15, 2019 at 8:46 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 33

I'm shopping around and just now realizing that even faux flowers that are nice cost almost as much as actual flowers! I've even watched YouTube videos to put together flowers and it seems that the look I'm going for would probably be almost as much as just as buying the faux flowers that are already made. SomethingBorrowed as very limited selection of centerpieces. At this point, I'm thinking that I should just buy fake flowers in hopes of re-selling. Has anyone found really cheap flower arrangements? I feel like I should probably just buy real maybe.

Also, has anyone tried to save some money buy alternating pieces of floral and non floral? I was thinking maybe I could do half floral centerpieces and the other half something else. Thoughts? Does that look goofy?

You can totally mix and match centerpieces. Hurricane lanterns, tall floating candle pillars, etc. all don't need a lot of florals. We will probably mix and match our centerpieces to decrease the amount of florals needed.

Are you using real or faux flowers? Surprisingly, it seems to not save that much money from faux...I've seen the arrangements I want cost as much as the real thing!

I am working on my own center pieces and plan on using fake flowers around small wreaths then having Mason jars with lights in the center. I hope they look as nice as they sound and will post photos when I have them made. At the end of the day it's our wedding and if we want to save some money it's our right.

We haven't decided, but getting flowers on Bloominous/Fifty Flowers/Bouqs/Costco and doing it DIY can save a ton.

You can also see what flowers bloom locally at the time of year your wedding is. You could probably make a good arrangement with a local grower if you buy enough flowers. Just don't say the word "wedding". It'll always be more. Say it's for a bar mitzvah.

Some cheap decor options. You can also build floating candle pillars with floral inside for less than $10 each.

I’m going to be buying Sola Wood Flowers. they have “daily deals” that are very reasonable and the flowers look real. I check this everyday but I’m waiting until Black Friday to order! Last year they had like 70-80% off. I’m using those for the centerpieces and BM bouquets. I’m going to a florist for my bouquet.

My wedding is going to be casual and in October so I plan on using mini pumpkins & gourds or something along those lines for centerpieces.

We decided not skip flowers and it totally worked for our beach wedding. The lanterns were $8 at Ikea, the platters came from Dollar Tree, the ducks were less than $1 a piece and the shells were $6 for 3 pounds worth. There are so many ways to save when you get creative.

My son and his wife had artistically arranged stacks of old books as their centerpieces. Really, there are a lot of choices other than flowers (fake or real).

I'm not sure what faux flowers you're looking at but I got mine from Amazon and they are BEAUTIFUL and I saved thousands of dollars that way. Smiley smile

Because they are so expensive, real or fake, I'm not using any florals in my centerpieces. Just candles.

I like the idea of using small potted plants. Guests can take them as favors and it cuts down on waste! You might also consider colored or clear vases with votives in them. A few vases of different heights grouped together will create some visual interest!

Yes, we will be doing a majority of candles with greenery under it. Huge way to save.

I found that a flowerless centerpiece was the best course of action for us.

I'm doing a minimalist design to save money. I bought a ton of the cylinder vases off of Facebook Marketplace for $125. In my opinion, spending a fortune on centerpieces is dumb. Nobody will remember the centerpieces. Save your money and spend it on something elseSmiley smile
