Pushing the Wedding Back

Jenay, on May 19, 2019 at 10:45 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 2
So my FH and I were talking, we were thinking about getting married at the courthouse first cause it’s not that expensive. And then when we had enough moving in a few years have the wedding I want. He knows I want a big wedding so he wants to make sure we have enough money for it. I know it’s nowhere close to the wedding date yet. Has anyone got married at the courthouse before. Is it easy. So we have more time to save money so I can have my dream wedding, I’m totally fine with pushing back the wedding more cause if we do. We could have 1. more time planning and 2. more time for saving money for the wedding and the honeymoon cause I also wanna go to Jamaica for the honeymoon or go on a cruise. (We still haven’t decided that part yet)
please let me know how easy it is. I’ve only looked up the price cause my FH asked me how much it would cost. And I know it’s different for each state. Thank you ❤️❤️

I have. This is my second go-round. The first time I got married in a courthouse and it's super simple. You just pay and fill out the form. They'll let you know all the paperwork you will need to bring with you, if any and then you just wait for a judge/officiant to be open to marry you. It's like waiting for a doctor's appt because there will most likely be other people there waiting for the same thing and so they call your name in the order they got your file. Depending on what time you go in, it shouldn't take too long.

    Hi there Jenay!

If you and your FS want time to save and plan a celebration in the future, a courthouse wedding is a great option Smiley smile

As you mentioned, a courthouse wedding is going to vary depending on the state and even county sometimes. If you're looking for more specific information on the process I would recommend you call the county clerk's office in your area or the office of registrars in the county where you're getting married.

Where are you planning on having the wedding? Which state?
