Pulling dress over head without messing up hair and makeup, Eek!

Ashley, on January 15, 2018 at 8:13 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 10
Hi everyone, I just had a question particularly for those of you who have already been married, how did you get your wedding dress over your head without messing up your hair or makeup? This terrifies me, that after all that money and time to get my hair and makeup perfect it will all come out before the wedding even starts. The ladies where I bought my dress said that you absolutely HAVE to pull the dress over your head though or it will rip(it is a mermaid style dress) did anyone figure out a safe way to do this? Thanks in advance!

I'm wondering this, myself. My dress isn't a mermaid but it zips on the side and my hips are larger than my bust so I can't pull it up.

This is one of those times you can put your BMs to work!! Smiley xd

At one friend's wedding we had MOH standing on a chair, lifting the dress up, and MOB holding the top of the dress wide open, and I think someone else guiding the bride's hands through the dress from the bottom. Bride was crouched down low to make it easier to lift the dress up over her.

I had a mermaid dress. I stepped into it. Going over the head would have been a nightmare with all those layers. Do you have a seamstress? I feel like I would have to get another opinion just because it would be so hard to get in that way.

I have a very tight mermaid and I step into mine. Ask if they can put in a longer zipper

I always stepped into my dresses...only ball gowns went over my head.

I did also buy one of these for my engagement shoot but didn't end up using it...

I was told the same thing. My seamstress had me put my arms straight up over my head and my MOH and BM did the rest. She said as long as I kept my hands up my hair and make up would be fine bc my dress couldn't get to it. It worked for me!
