Publix Cake-what would you think?

Our budget doesn't have room for a traditional tiered cake for 80 people. My plan was to do 3-4 different 1/4 sheet deluxe cakes from Publix. This would cost 100 dollars max vs 300-400 for a traditional cake. These cakes will be fantastic tasting no doubt, but what you think if you went to a wedding...

@Lauren - everyone who lives where there is a Publix would absolutely know where it's from... because everyone loves Publix cake! It's not a shady discount store or something, lol.

Publix's carrot cake is our favorite for birthdays!

For my brother's small wedding, we got a 2-layer 8" cake decorated like a white basket of pink flowers from Publix.

We don't have Publix here, but we got our cake from Sam's Club. It was delicious!

Publix cake is delicious! Love @Bobbi's picture as an idea on how to use regular cakes

FW and I will be purchasing our wedding cake from Publix! We'll be going with rounds though.

My cousin did a small round traditional cake to cut and for pics and hid the sheet cake in the kitchen where it was cut and brought out so no one even ever saw it. We don't have a public where I live, and I'm not sure where she got hers from, but I know she actually saved quite a bit. Her wedding was also larger though with 150 people

I think using sheet cakes to feed the masses is really common. Like other people said, you might want a small, pretty display cake to have and cut. But really, there's nothing wrong with having some sheet cake in the back from Publix to give to your guests. That stuff tastes amazing anyhow. I like how you operate Smiley laugh

One of my couples had a 2-layer 8" round cake on each table. Each was labeled with cake & filling flavor. We chose our seats based on what cake we wanted to eat! She borrowed cake plates/pedestals from relatives and friends. We thought it was a great idea!

You could also do a single or double round wedding looking cake and do cupcakes. I'm not familiar with that company, but it would be something to ask about Smiley smile

We did this little display cake to cut into and had a bunch of cupcakes around it, but I would suggest the small display cake route and have the sheet cakes ready in the back for guests.

Sheet cakes on display would seem odd - but a small 1-tier cutting cake, with sheet cakes in the back for serving, is lovely!

Sheet cakes.....no. Get four or five small tiered cakes, display them on cake stands and it'll be fine. But no sheet cakes.

And one more. I mean at least they aren't large white sheet cakes with blue and red icing. I kind of thought displayed with a topper of pink and gold ribbon and or flowers they would look just fine.

Do one nice decorated cake. It doesn't have to be two tiers. Serve sheet cake from the kitchen. Make sure it has at least some filling and tasty frosting!

What everyone else said. Get one small round cake for cutting, and have sheet cakes in the back for serving.
