Hey guys! I'm curious as to what some pros and cons are to a December wedding. I was originally wanting 11/24 as our wedding date (my bday is 11/22, FH is 11/26 sooo... it made perfect sense!) Anyways, for like 59 reasons that date just isn't working anymore and FH really likes 12/8 (my lucky number...

Anyways, for like 59 reasons that date just isn't working anymore and FH really likes 12/8 (my lucky number is 12, his is 8) So it's still cute! Plus, this was our first kiss 12 years ago 😍

But I'm just kinda feeling ehhh about it because of the holidays being so close! SOOO... what are your thoughts? Opinion?

We are doing a Dec 14th wedding. Pros: we got off season discounts, areas are already decorated and festive so we wont need as much. We can buy actual Christmas decor on sale at the clearance sales this year and they wont look out of place when we use them for the wedding next year. Pretty snowy pics, excuse to have hot cider and a hot chocolate bar as well as hot cocktails, can have a candlelit ceremony and still serve/eat dinner at a reasonable time, awesome seasonal food options.

Cons: need to plan more in advance to let important people know so they can be there, could have slippy roads, easy to make it look too much like Christmas party instead of a wedding, may need to wait on a honeymoon because travel will be more expensive and certain destinations will be crowded with families on holiday break.

Actual Save the Dates are not necessary; they are a new invention. Do it the old fashioned way: Actually talk to everyone you intend to invite. Tell them the when and where, and that you will send an invitation end of Sept/ beginning October. Anyone who wants info on accommodations ir travel, send it, email or snail mail. A small wedding, there should not be anyone on your list you do not know well enough to talk to.

We are doing 12/1. It was the first day of “off season” prices, and the weather still feels like fall where we live, sometimes even warmer. Early dec is still early enough before winter break for schools, so if you have kids at the wedding, it’s not a big issue if they travel and miss a day.

December weddings are so beautiful but that time of year is so busy and money is tight that time of year. I probably wouldn’t attend a December wedding unless you were a very close family member.

I was between a late December wedding and an early January wedding. We texted the most important people (family and bridal party) and asked their opinion. We ended up going with 1/4. A few bonuses: it’s been MUCH cheaper, we’ve had an off season discount from almost every vendor. Our venue already had decorations up if we had chosen to use them. It’s not hot as heck! And we got our first choice of vendors because it’s not a popular wedding date.

con: a few people can’t come with the travel so close to Christmas. (Personally this is a pro to me lol) and we are getting married in the Colorado mountains....so it could dump snow. Also a plus to me..:but not for other people lol.

    Positives

Ah true that. My entire family is in the wedding on 11/9 this year (brother in law is getting married, my husband is the bedt man I'm a bridesmaid and kids r flower girl and ring bearer). Well its a great date and early enough before the holidays...but check this out - we have birthdays: 10/18 mil, 10/31 husband, 11/5 my daughter, 11/7 groom turns 40...add to that my family being in town (unrelated to wedding), halloween which we celebrate in a very big way, rehearsal dinner, and then the wedding... I am excited about everything but im also excited and cannot freaking wait to be done!!! Lol
Bride and groom wanted a sept date but their venue only had this one date avail in 2018 so they had to go for it.
