Pros: cheaper, smaller group, less stress in planning.

Cons: Not all courthouses are pretty, may not feel as BIG of a day as a full-day wedding. If this is a worry I recommend a local elopement--officiant, pretty venue (like a park or something cheaper) and a photographer.

Bonus: the marriage is just a real and important as anyone else's

Pros- your just as married as big wedding, don't have to miss out on all the BS.

Cons- your loved ones miss out, you miss that big wedding.

Mary- I thought you were waiting a while? What has changed?

Mary, I noticed you're only at 4 stars. You should grace us with your presence more often.

Pros- Save money, Dont have to deal with family's "ideas", dont have to wait, you really can do what you want.

Cons- You might regret it later (you might not), *********not enough time to realize you should wait to be getting married.*********

Did planning ASR's wedding make you want to push yours back up?

@SeptMrsV said it all. It's such a personal decision, and the pros and cons for me could be totally different than for you.

For instance, a huge con for me would be that I would regret it, and I would be sad I did it that way. Lots of other prefer and are thrilled they had a courthouse wedding.

Generally speaking, it CAN be cheaper and less stress, but you can easily drive up the cost and stress too, even with a courthouse wedding.

This is really a question only you can answer.

Pro: You don't have to buy/rent décor.

Con: At their location on their schedule.

    Hey Mary!

I think courthouse weddings can be just as beautiful, without all the stress and added expense. You can still wear a beautiful dress if that's what you want, too! Just be sure you take any witnesses or guests out for a fully hosted and paid-for-by-you meal afterwards.

I'm curious, too- have plans changed? Are you sticking with the 10/29 date? Kind of coming up fast!

Pro: you're just as married as anyone else, but have $10,000 to $40,000 more in your pocket. You saved yourself a bunch of time and stress. You don't have to figure out what to do with all the stuff left over-- the decorations, dress, etc. You'll be married sooner.

Con: weddings and funerals are the two times you can count on friends and family really getting together, and you won't know who comes to your funeral.
