I've said it before and I'll say it again, you get what you pay for with DB. DB is the Target of bridal stores. If you want to be pampered and treated like a queen, this isn't the place for you. However if you want a reasonably priced gown (maybe even a bargain) then go ahead and try it. Couple of pieces of advice: Try to go during the day on a weekday or if that's impossible then a Sunday morning; if you don't get enough attention at first, try going to the racks and pulling dresses for yourself -- they don't like that and a salesperson will trot over to you; and as PPs have said, their accessories are pricey, better to go somewhere else for those.

BTW, I got my dress at DB and my 7 BMs are getting theirs there also. None of us have had any problems . . . yet!

Wow how the heck are they still open? They need to step up their game. I think I will have to check another place before going to them. I hate rude people so I just know it's not going to work out if someone acts rude to me

Try them first... if you can find "the dress" at DB price... and be lucky to have a nice experience... that will be great!

I bought a dress there a few years ago when I was first engaged, I did have a really good experience and the girls there were really nice, this was in montclair, ca. my rep kept looking for dresses that were within my budget and even suggested others to try on, a few others even came by to give their opinion.

Make sure to call them and see how many dresses they carry in your size. The one here had only 12 dresses in a six 14 and maybe 10 more in a size 16 so yeah it was fun...NOT

My daughter had a very positive experience at David's Bridal and ended up purchasing her dress there. She tried one size and they recommended she get two sizes smaller in a long. That made me very nervous but the manager said if it didn't work, they would return the dress and get her the size she needed. The dress fits great. My other daughter went to a DB in another city looking for BM dresses. We were very disappointed in the quality of the BM dresses for the amount of money they were asking. I think 130-170 is a heck of alot of money before alterations for those dresses. I recommended to my bride daughter that we look elsewhere and ended up purchasing from Ann Taylor for the same price. The best thing about DB BM dresses is that you can get a variety of styles in your color and if you BM are scattered across the country they can get to a DB to get their dress.

I have to admit I skipped the other posts (sorry). I recently went home and tried on dresses for the first time. I tried a small boutique first. The dresses were beautiful! I fell in love w/ several dresses (All under $800 btw). I then went to David's Bridal - same day. I had previously selected several (under 8) to try on online. When I got there, they informed me they had my list. I had to wait over a 1/2 hour past my appointment. The consultant didn't even look at my preprinted list, even after I asked her about it (what was the point?!). When I finally tried on dresses, they simply did not compare to the designer dresses. Even the over $1,000 DB dresses looked cheaper than the $500 designer dresses I tried on. I can't believe some were the exact same price, but were a much lower quality! The overall fit was also worse. And the customer service was so much better at the boutique! To each their own, but I don't recommend them. And I had my heart set on one of their $299 dresses...

I tried on about 70 dresses at boutique shops in my area and went to david's bridal as a last resort, and that's where I found "THE ONE".

con: After you buy your dress the service isn't as good...

I tried every plus size dress on there. Needless to say I hated every single one of them. But two of my friends both got their gowns there and loved them. They had nothing I liked and the ones I did like were 1200 dollars :[ I found my dress at a small private owned downtown shop. Since they are private owned they treat you like a human being vs just some other bride looking for that perfect dress and wining. Some consultants in the store are very great. But from my understanding don't get your dress altered there they mess things up.

    Pros:

    * Prices tend to be more reasonable than other bridal stores.

    * A wide variety of sizes is available.

    Cons:

    * You have to make an appointment, and they sell the contact information they get from that to all the wedding vendors.

    * The customer service varies a lot from one store to another. At our local store, the sales people wanted us to pick out the dresses we wanted to try on from their catalog (which had no prices in it), instead of suggesting things that might look good on us or that were within our budget.

    * The alterations tend to be overpriced, and the quality varies a lot from one store to another.

My solution was to buy a DB dress from a consignment store. Thus, I got the excellent customer service of the consignment store, but prices even lower than David's Bridal. As a bonus, I could actually try on the dress I ended up buying, and could walk out of the store with it the same day instead of waiting months. We used an independent seamstress for our alterations.

DB have good Lower priced dresses... A good place to START so you have an idea what styles you like... and try one in each style... when I went there the lady tried to cut my appointment short. they are good for last minute dresses. the only place I know in my area where I don't need to order 6 or more months in advance!

My neighborhood DB actually has pretty good customer service and I keep trying to buy a dress from them...haha...but I haven't yet for myself!

I meant a special occasion dress on sale--never in my size or the right color.

Actually there was a dress that was a top contender when I was shopping for my wedding gown..I still think about it now and then....lol

My experience at DB wasn't so bad. I went in thinking that I was going to receive bad service and actually everyone was friendly for the most part... So maybe you should try it out.
