We had been dating for 2 years and living together for almost a year and a half. We had talked a little about marriage but nothing serious. He caught me completely by surprise and I am so happy he did.

How do you feel about the relationship and the fact that he is talking about proposing? December is about 8 months of dating. Also just because you get engaged doesn't mean you have to immediately get married. People have long engagements. But it doesn't mean you have to accept of you aren't ready. If you aren't ready I'd have a serious conversation with him about your timeline. But if you are on board I wouldn't say anything.
We had been dating for two and a half years when he proposed, and living together for about a year. We'll have been together four and a half years when our wedding finally takes place.
He proposed 3 months shy of our 5 year anniversary. We'll be getting married 3 months shy of 7 years. We started dating when I was still in college and figuring life out and we wanted to at least wait until I was done with school. We ended up waiting until we knew our foundation should be completely solid for forever.
My FH proposed 7 months and 5 days after we became official and we're getting married on 5/7/2022! I love how the numbers 5 and 7 play into our dating timeline and wedding date (wasn't planned at all, but I noticed it after the fact)!

We were together for 4 years before he proposed. Were talking about marriage after 2 years.
Together for 3.8 (the 8 is important, haha!) years when he proposed, but we had talked about marriage the whole way and knew it was endgame very quickly into dating.
