Proof of marriage on honeymoon

FutureMrsR, on June 18, 2017 at 5:13 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 12

I've been posting a lot lately... sorry!

Long story short, we need some sort of official proof of our marriage the day after our wedding for our honeymoon. Obviously we can't get a copy of the marriage license from the court before we leave--we're leaving on Sunday after a Saturday wedding.

Anyone else ever been in this dilemma? How did you solve it? I have to figure it out before we book the honeymoon, and rooms are filling fast for our destination...

ETA-- Would a non-official photocopy of the marriage license work for a cruise? I've been trying to get a hold of someone at Royal Caribbean, but they said it could take a few days to get back to me.

Take a photocopy of license and bring an invitation with you. We brought both and they were fine with that

Sorry...why do you need a proof of marriage? I haven't heard of a honeymoon destination needing this before. Are you both citizens of the same country?

My travel agent told me the wedding venue contract would work, or a copy of your marriage license and your contract with your officiant.

Did you not get a white temporary copy of your marriage license with the official copy you send back to the court house? We have to show proof of marriage at or resort as well to get the "honeymoon package" they have, but we got 2 copies of the license. Including a temporary one to have until we get an official one back

EDIT- I see now you're getting married next year. Can't get the license until 30 days before. At least where I live. They should give you 2 copies.

@FutureMrsMcNamara I don't know, we might. Our wedding isn't until May.

ETA- If that works, it might be perfect! I bet I can call the courthouse and find out if they do that even before we go to get the license.

The marriage certificate paper should be 3 pc carbon copy, after you sign it you should get a copy to take, 1 goes to town/state you get married in to file. If not def take a pic of it, as well as invitation.

Just make a photocopy of your marriage license. It definitely does not have to be something super official!

@Ant, not every state does that. In FL it's just a single sheet of paper that gets mailed back to the clerk of courts.

@OP - I've never heard of a honeymoon location not taking your word for it. We leave for our cruise on Saturday. Our registration form asked if we were celebrating anything, so we clicked the honeymoon option. No proof needed.

@Ant - I don't think that's true in all states. Our marriage license was one sheet of paper, no carbon or carbon-less copies.

This is very common- you should be good with a wedding invite and make sure to get a pic on your phone of the two of you getting married/ at the wedding. That plus the invite should be good. But definitely let The cruise line get back to you.
