So, do you bring your own make up or do you just use whatever they have?

I think they bring their own products. of course, if you have any allergies or sensitivies to certain products, you'll need to let them know.

The ones I've talked to all use their own professional makeup. It's made to withstand a day of wear, crying, sweat... the works.

My best friend is a makeup artist and has a gigantic suitcase of makeup so I'd say they bring their own.

I am going to a salon to get my make up done because they are doing my hair too. I have never been to this salon but I didn't have a choice because I am not getting married in my hometown. The website shows Bare Minerals, so it sounds like they use consumer grade stuff. I might bring some of my own stuff that I really like.

Truly, it can depend. For my daughters wedding, our makeup artist/hair stylist brought his own products, but he also used some of ours, if we wanted certain items.

As far as I know, they should have their own stuff since they all try to get professional cosmetics.

PS, we had him come to the hotel. It was great. We all relaxed in the hotels "apartment" and leisurely had our hair and make up done. My ex, his wife and I also arranged to have lunch delivered to "we ladies" and to the groomsmens suite. Made sure that everyone ate, before photos and the ceremony.

@Lisa- if they use Bare Minerals for your wedding day makeup- RUN! I'm sure Brian and Matt can go into more detail, but mineral makeup does not photograph well at all! It looks really shiny!

Plus, Bare Minerals is comsumer grade product. Anyone can get it and it's not very pricey. They should be using something much better!

Lisa as a Makeup artist I agree with Brian! Bare Minerals will not give you the coverage you are going to want and need on your big day. I will use something the bride has to to use because of allergies and things like that. Even though I normally find something within my kit that will mirror that product. But for the most part I trust and stand by the products that I have in my kit.

Mineral makeup is BRUTAL for photos. Any light on you and your face will be covered in little reflective flecks (which is also why I beg brides to not use any glitter on their shoulders, decollete, hair, etc.). A retouching nightmare. A good MUA will bring professional quality makeup. If you have coverage issues - especially things like tattoos - airbrush makeup may be a good route to go as well.
