    I say don't budge on this! It's not your mom's wedding - it's yours!

I'm walking down the aisle to a song that's not the bridal party. All the officiant has to do is politely say, "please stand".

Everyone knows when the bridal party walks down and the music pauses, you stand for the bride. Don't budge.

I don't even know the last time I heard the bridal march played when a bride walked down the aisle. I think it's very outdated. Like PP said, it's your wedding so pick what you want.

Just listened to the Piano Guys version after reading this and it's beautiful! I say go for it and enjoy the reaction of anyone who recognizes what it is!

It’s a beautiful song. I would tell my mom I respect her advice, but I’ve already made up my mind. I have never been to a wedding that the wedding march was played as the bride walked down the aisle, everyone knows after the bridal party comes the bride.

I agree with the above poster about no one playing this song anymore. Tell your mom it is outdated and that the officiant is the one who usually indicates for guests to stand. My processional was to The Piano Guys version of A Thousand Years. My bridal party walked down to it and then when it was my time, the pastor motioned everyone to stand and they did. It was no big deal. Also, traditionally, the MOB is the one who indicates that everyone should stand by standing first when she sees her daughter enter the aisle. Stick to your guns on this one.

Yep, you can definitely que people to stand in other ways. Our DJ told us that using a different song for the wedding party, fading that out, leaving a pause, and then starting the bride's song is a surefire way to get everyone to pay attention.

I LOVE the Jurassic Park theme song. Keep with that and have the Officiant ask everyone to stand. Totally ok to walk into something not traditional.

Your wedding, your choice. They'll see you in your white dress and know to stand lol

I was in the same boat as you! My mom really wanted me to walk down to the Bridal March because "it's a tradition" and "it's an announcement that you're coming down the aisle". I just told her that it was really outdated and no one walks down to that song anymore. We're strong Christians, and I'm walking down to a Contemporary Christian song so she was completely okay with that as the alternative, but she didn't initially like me walking down to something different.

It is your wedding..if that is what you have your heart set on, do it! Don't let your mother convince you otherwise.
