processional music for bridal party

Katie, on May 12, 2013 at 11:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

What is everyone doing? I hear people talk about what they are walking down to but what does the Bridal Party come in to? Is there like a traditional song? Or do you pick a song for you to walk in to and one for the bridal party?

We have a very long "aisle" as its outdoors and we're going to be walking down from the barn. I was thinking of walking down to "I Do" by Colbie Callait but i have no idea what to have the bridal party walk down to or even how long this would take. Maybe find a 5 minute song or find 2 songs with similar beats. My FH would like country if possible but its not necessary. Thoughts?

I'm having my 4 little flower girls come in to ballet music from Nutcracker. I'm a former ballet dancer and FH proposed after a Nutcracker performance, so it's fun and special to us. Still don't know what I'm coming out to, though. Hope the pianist has some good ideas for us, it's two weeks from today!

My songs probably wouldn't work for you, as I am doing piano music. How big is your bridal party? You can get an idea of how long it will take by figuring out approximately how long the "aisle" is, walking a similar length line, then multiplying it by the number of people or pairs walking down (adding a bit for spacing etc...) Ask your FH what song he would like? Keith Urban has some really nice songs that are well suited for a wedding.

We're doing At Last by Etta James for the bridal party processional, and someone is singing Annie's Song by John Denver for the bridal entrance.

I was just thinking about this yesterday. I think I am having the bridal party walk down to "forever, and ever amen" by Randy Travis.

Vitamine String Quartet - Bubbly. If FH wants country, mine did, you could go with a instrumental song

Katie, of all the weddings we do about half are traditional music (canon in D, air on the G string, bridal march, wedding march) and half are non-traditional (anything goes). As for timing, don't try to pick songs that time out to your party. Just tell your DJ (I assume your using tracks) to loop the songs as needed, and make them fit to your party. You won't believe how many times I see un-expected delays (bride's dress, elderly grandparents, etc.) that would cause the song to run out. You also would be surprised to know how many so-called "pro DJs" will simply play a track without regard to needed loops or fade outs. Explain clearly to them that you want them to keep dead air out of your wedding processional.

One more thing. On setups like the one you've described, it's also sometimes hard for the bridal party to hear the music. It may be needed for the DJ to setup a wireless speaker for you guys or he needs to be within line of sight so you can exchange visual cues. Good luck.

We are going to use I'm Yours by Jason Mraz which would work well with your Colbie Collait song. We're also using a country song for the recessional.
