Private wedding website, is that odd?

Katy, on February 22, 2011 at 6:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

My fiance and I were not really happy with having all of the details of our wedding out for the world to see so when I created my site through Wedding Wire, I password protected it. Is that overkill, or understandable?

Mine is also password protected! I don't think it's that big of a deal!

It's certainly understandable. However, it will reduce the number of guests who look at it. They won't remember the password.

At the same time- who is really going to look at your website besides your guests? Unless you have a revengeful ex you have to worry about...

I included the link and password on the Save the Date so no one would forget. I figured it would at least keep it from being out for the world to see.

Even with the STD many guest may forget the password so eventually you may have to unblock it. Although if you did a fridge magnet that may not happen. Also, it is pretty hard to find your specific site. someone would have to know to search for it.

I think it is reasonable that you don't want everyone to see your website. I started with my site password protected but then realized I don't care who sees my site. Only my friends and family and you WW ladies will be the ones checking out the website anyways.

It's understandable. I am an educator and would prefer that all my students don't have my wedding details. It's simply not their business and the internet is SO public (by default). But you may have to make sure you MOH, MOB, MOG and other key people know and remember the password so they can tell guests who forget it.

I was going to password mine but forgot to add it to the STD so I took it off. Not over the top you just want privacy.

Ours is still PW protected, after 6 months. just be sure to include the PW with the STD card.

Mine was pw protected until I wanted my MOH to give me feedback, and I unlocked it just to make it easier for her. But now, the date & venues are changing, and a lot of details actually, SO...yeah.

I had mine open for people to see, but hid all the private info. So people could only see the photo slideshow and our story etc... Once I put up the RSVP page and the location of the ceremony and reception I PW protected it!
