Pretzel Wall!

lilchameleon, on November 17, 2017 at 2:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 33

I decided to cut my "cocktail hour" down to a 20 minute transition between the ceremony and reception, because the appetizers my venue had available were very pricey to have a full cocktail hour. So instead, I booked a pretzel wall! So people can snack on those as they grab a drink and find their seat before toasts. I'm so excited! All together it's 1/2 the cost of what a stupid cheese and cracker tray would have been, and it has faux succulents behind it, which makes it extra adorable!

I think it's cute. But make sure it's not out too long...seems like they could go stale easily. Would you have dips or anything?

They'll be made that morning. They are a St. Louis tradition called Gus' Pretzels. The ballpark sells them and a lot of local stores. Even Walgreens. Even a couple days old they're pretty delicious, so if these are made that morning, I suspect they'll be delightful.

These are kind of a STL speciality. While usually you eat pretzels with cheese or something, it's kind of sacrilegious to eat Gus' with dip. I was thinking of asking my venue is if I could purchase nacho cheese from them, but honestly, I doubt anyone will use it, except people who have never heard of Gus' before.

I wanted to do this, but the thought of them not being hot worried me.

Do you plan to serve hot? If so, how are they keeping them "fresh"?

This seems kind of, well, cheesy...but now I can't decide if that's good or bad, because I love me some hot pretzels and nacho cheese.

They are typically not served hot. I know it's weird. There's a couple kinds of jarred mustards they sell to go with them. I'll probably pick up a couple of those.

So cute! I'm from Philly and they are also known for soft pretzels, so I think we are going to bring out pretzels as a late night snack as guests are walking out!

You can't dip a Gus' pretzel in cheese! I'm from the St. Louis area, and this is an excellent idea!!

Love the whole idea and timing but I would not eat something off a wall, esp with something attached to it like those succulents. It is not something that can be cleaned like a plate or a tray.
