Preserving the bouquet or parts of it?

Belle, on April 24, 2020 at 9:18 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 2 26
Did you successfully preserve parts of your wedding bouquet, or even the whole bouquet?

Thank you in advance 🥂

So glad you started this thread! I've been researching this over the last week trying to figure how to preserve mine without breaking the bank and found this cute idea on Etsy. Thinking of doing this as it's a keepsake and practical.

My husband while we were dating would give me flowers and I usually took select flowers or petals from the bouquets and pressed and mid podged them into a canvas as pieces of art. If that’s an idea you’re open to!

Do you have a picture of your art? I think I would try with the flowers from my backyard first. How long do they need to be pressed inside the book?

There’s also places that will extract dyes from the flowers to create custom clothing, fabrics, etc. Worth looking into if that’s a different way of “preserving” you would be interested in! http://www.caramariepiazza.com/services.html

I dried my entire bouquet and H's boutonniere and put it in a shadow box. Here's a before/after of my bouquet. I just hung it upside down in a hall closet for 2 weeks. Preserving the bouquet or parts of it? 2

OMG 😍 I love this idea!!!!! I might also preserve my wedding dress, because I doubt anyone will fit in it once it’s altered.

Not married yet but I just made this for some friends. It was a DW and after the reception I found her brothers boutonniere and the decor flowers laying around and I took them home to make this. It's not professional or that great but I wrote the date in their wedding color and every piece is from their wedding (wish tag from their "wishes to the B&G", the ribbons (inside and out) are from the boutonniere.

They don't know I made it, I was planning to give it to them around Christmas.

I actually purchased a bouquet pressing from this same person! I was supposed to get it last week, but she told me her shipment of frames is delayed. I’ll post it on here when I get it!

Thank you! It's super easy! I'm thinking of doing the same with my dress. I just have to find someone reasonable. I see so many bad reviews on DBs dress preservation. I haven't looked into DIYing it yet, but I'm sure its possible lol. I would just have to get the dress cleaned and get another shadow box. I'm only 5'1 but have some hips on me lol, I doubt anyone would fit or want my dress.

And I am only 4”7, with unusual shape as well. I rarely seen anyone as short as me. I don’t think anyone would be interested on buying a dress and extend the length 🤣

Preserving the bouquet or parts of it? 7I’m probably gonna dry mine out with floral stuff from Michaels and use epoxy to make these and spell our last name! This is the way we both liked it. Preserving the bouquet or parts of it? 8
but I also might do something like this too! so I guess we’ll see which one when it gets closer to the date

Is epoxy easy to do? I was always interested to try, but never did.

Super easy! you just have to make sure it’s completely dry before you take it out of the mold. I would experiment on some store bought flowers first to see if you like it.

I’m planning to preserve mine by drying them and then using crushed petals and polymer clay to make beads.
I dried my friend’s flowers a few years ago and made a shadow box for her. I bought silica gel to dry them, it preserves the color better than air drying and also dries them faster.

Are some flowers easier to preserve? I am thinking to put my weeding stuff in a shadow box as well 😃
