Hello all!

So one of my bridesmaids, who is also my sister, texted me earlier and let me know that her and her husband are planning on trying to get pregnant. My wedding is in 7 months and she is going to be a bridesmaid. Here's my question- when should she order her dress?

If she gets pregnant soon, she could be 7 months pregnant at the time of the wedding! She's super tiny and the last time she was pregnant, she had that perfect pregnant belly. So she could drastically change size in the next few months. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on this? I'm also planning on asking the lady who is making the dresses for her opinion.

P.S. I am so excited that I might become an aunt again!!! And I am the only one in the family who knows that they are trying, so I can't talk to anyone else about it. I really hope she gets pregnant!!

I was really scared to click on this post, for the reason Zoe mentioned above. Way to be a good friend/sister/person!

As far as advice, I would probably wait at least a few months. Also, try to pick a style with an empire waist (like the photo KGroenwold posted - which is adorable by the way). Her ribcage right under her bust shouldn't change size, so that is the safest best for pregnant BMs!

Actually, I lied. We ordered her dress at the end of May. So 4 months before.

The woman making the dresses also suggested that my sister wear an empire waist dress. I think the other girls will order their dresses soon (the ones who aren't planning on becoming pregnant) and my sister will wait until about a month out to order! (The woman makes the dresses incredibly fast).

KGroenwold- that is such a great picture!!

And to everyone else, thank you for your positive vibes! I agree, there are too many people who get upset by this kind of thing. I honestly don't see a point in being upset. My sisters little family is growing! And even if she wasn't one of my sisters, than that means that one of my closest friends is growing her family! A wedding is all about love, and how can you expect people to love you and your growing family, if you can't love theirs in return?

Wait until she is actually pregnant. She may get pregnant right away, she may not be pregnant by the time you get married. It took my parents 9 months to get pregnant with me (their first), whereas my friend got preggo 6 weeks after her wedding. There's really no way to know.

Am I the only one who finds the fact that DB had a fake tummy for @Ruth's bridesmaid to try on absolutely hysterical? Maybe I'm just a little loopy from a super long day but I seriously cracked up! People have officially thought I'd everything!

OP - sorry, no help here, just got a giggle out of the fake tummy! So glad you're excited for your sis!

I would consider picking a bridesmaid dress from somewhere other than a bridal designer, where they can buy a week or two before the wedding.

My cousin and bridesmaid was 5 months pregnant at my wedding. We ordered the dresses 8 months out (luckily because the dresses took 7 months!!). She fortuantely ordered up 1 size and the dress was let out 1 inch and fit perfectly. My dresses were fitted at the waist, and the seamstress said she could take the dress out 1.5 inches. I had another bridesmaid who lost 30lbs and they were able to take her dress in with no change to the design. A dress with a top chiffon layer will help cover any changes needed to made to the dresses.

I was 6 months pregnant in my sisters wedding. We ordered the dresses then a month later found out. Thankfully the seamstress I worked with was able to alter the dress to an empire waist. And we were able to late order 2 extra yards of fabric and she added in panels the week before to give me some room.
