Pregnant Bride?! Any ideas/suggestions at all that will help or make me feel better?! :)

FutureMrs.S, on February 10, 2016 at 9:22 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

So after a year of planning, and only 5 months away from the wedding, we just found out that we are expecting! We have both been talking about a baby, but I would have liked to get through the wedding first; though, of course, we are both very excited about a new baby! However, I am completely stressing out! We have put down deposits for our ceremony/reception venue, all vendors, and have save-the-dates; but I feel that I would look completely ridiculous walking down the aisle with a big belly! I just found out and believe I am further along than we think (already showing); guessing that I will be 6-7 months by the wedding and definitely have a belly! We were thinking of skipping the ceremony and just going with the reception as a big celebration, no wedding party and just a nice non-wedding dress; I really hate to skip that part on such a big day, though. I'm worried about the dress, pictures, how I will look. What to do, what to do?! Has anyone else experienced/experiencing this?!

Congratulations! And you do have options, though you should make the call before guests book plane tickets or hotels. You can see if your venue will let you postpone until however long you want after the birth. If they can rebook your date they might give you a refund or full credit toward another date. Same with other vendors. You'll never know until you ask!

Embrace the baby bump! Don't let it stop you from walking down the aisle. You will look beautiful no matter what.

Congrats! Babies are so sweet Smiley smile I had a friend get married 5 months pregnant and you couldn't tell! Her dress hid her baby bump very well. And if you want to push your wedding back, many vendors will have no problem changing the date (as long as they are still available) and counting the already paid deposit to the new date.

Congrats! My SIL was 5 months along when she and my brother married. She had a corset dress that hid her belly really well. She was very comfortable in it as well.

Heavens no, don't skip anything, just plan around it and embrace it. If it helps, we will be actively TTC before our wedding because that's what we've planned as a couple. I just saw photos of a friend of a friend who married at about 7 months and you can't even tell in her straight-on photos. Her side photos and she looks very stunning, but very pregnant. Front? You'd never have a clue.

Congratulations!! I agree with what's been said, my cousin's wife got married pregnant in a rouched satin mermaid and she looked gorgeous! You definitely don't have to postpone because you're pregnant!

I think the pictures would be gorgeous, what speaks more to love than two people wanting to spend the rest of their lives together and starting a family? You will be glowing and confident and the stress of trying to plan after having a baby and dropping the baby weight will make things hard! I really hope you have your wedding with an adorable bump!

Thank you all for the very nice comments! Babies are always exciting, and a blessing! I definitely don't want to postpone, but I know with our first child (and being short) I was pretty big at 7 months; I was just stressing of how I would look or what others would think! However, I agree with @Desiree that planning the wedding again, afterwards, would be stressful and a hassle.

Congratulations! I was 7 months pregnant at my wedding, and the only big change was my dress - everything else went well without issues (including our Catholic ceremony!)

Had some people I know that did that but they saved their gender reveal for than also. They had their cake be the color of the sex of the baby so when they cut their wedding cake it revealed their sex of their baby.

@FutureMrs.S - we don't have our professional photographs yet, but this was a picture done by our MC (him and the DJ were taking pics also...) I had to sell my mermaid style dress and bought a simple empire waist chiffon dress with corset back. Paired with short heels during the ceremony, and wore my Toms for the reception, it was super comfortable!
