Pre-wedding Stress

Annie , on January 30, 2020 at 8:00 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 5

Hi all!

I wanted to reach out as I'm beginning to experience the pre-wedding stress. I'm not so worried about the planning details, as we have plenty of time to get those all worked out, but I'm mainly stressed with the size of the wedding. My fiancé and I had always discussed having a large wedding, which I am still on board for, but I'm experiencing some anxiety relating to the "spectacle" of the wedding. Namely, I'm concerned that the wedding will feel more like it is a display for the guests than a personal event for my fiancé and I. I would love any tips and tricks on how you are planning on making your wedding be personal and have special time for the bride and groom or any ways that you have worked through personal anxiety during the planning process. Has anyone had similar experiences to the "spectacle" jitters?

Thanks a million,

Annie

I was originally very against a first look, but my husband convinced me to do it and I'm so glad I did. It gave us personal time to be together on our big day. We also wrote our own vows which was really sweet. We had a sweetheart table so it was just the two of us eating together and we got to really enjoy that time together. Another thing I have seen bride and grooms do is exchange letters that they wrote to each other. I was going to write a letter to my husband to read before we saw me during the first look but I ran out of time.

I love all these ideas! I think that having details like these in place will help me to mentally prepare for all the busy-ness of the actual day. Thank you so much for your comment!

You're welcome Smiley smile My husband gave me a cute note with a tiara as a surprise while I was getting my hair done. He gave it to my mom to give me. I really wanted a tiara, but he said no then planned the perfect way to surprise me with it. It was a nice touch.

My fiancé is an introvert, so we built in time after the ceremony for quiet 1 on 1 time for us bride and groom with snacks stashed away in a secluded area. It’ll be right after pictures are done but just before we do the grand entrance to the reception. Even just 10-15 minutes of quiet time will help give us a breather before going back into host mode.
