Postponing

Kate, on July 12, 2020 at 5:52 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5
Hi everyone- we are postponing our wedding from August 21 of this year to probably next June. Our venue had encouraged us to postpone to this October so we did but then got word shortly after that as US citizens we would not be allowed into the country we are having the wedding (Fiji, where I am from) until 2021. Since we are postponing by quite a bit, I am wondering if I should do something more formal like save the dates? We initially emailed everyone for our October changed since it was only by 2 months but with such a long time I wonder if something more formal is more appropriate.

I think that save the dates will be a good idea. Many sites have cute “save the new date” stationary since COVID has forced people to reschedule!

If budget allows, I definitely think some kind of "Change The Date" card is a good idea!

Since we made some significant changes—postpone celebration to 2021 and also having a virtual wedding this year—we are sending updated Wedding detail 3x5 cards. Thought it would make folks feel better & it would ensure everyone got the update.

Printed information always feels now formal, but given the current situation, it's completely up to you. We sent cheerful new save the dates and people were happy to receive them. Our original save the dates were from Shutterfly, and they gave us a credit to use to replace them. If you sent save the dates for your original date, ask the company that printed them if they'll allow you to print new ones for free or give you a discount.
