Postponing wedding due to illness.

Desia, on August 11, 2019 at 7:31 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 15
I am going to have to postpone our wedding because of a serious illness I’m battling. 2 months before our wedding date I am down to 80 lb, and feel even as if I might not make it. It is completely devastating 💔 wanted to know if anyone has had to go through something similar. Hopefully in your case it turned out to be ok in the end Smiley sad

You will make it! I lost 60 pounds last year and nearly died! I spent a week in the hospital. Now here I am planning my wedding! It sucks you can't have your day now but your health is priority. Remember to care for yourself and not rush. You WILL get your day, you WILL walk down the isle, and you WILL feel fantastic when you do. I hope your illness let's up soon

I don’t know if I can be of any help but I have a disease that’s life threatening called Gastroparesis. This had made my weight fluctuate a lot and I’ve lost a lot of weight. My stomach is paralyzed and can’t digest food properly. I get nauseous all the time and a ton of other things. I also have fibromyalgia and a few other health issues. I know what can happen when I need feeding tubes but you can be surprised on how resilient your body can be. Sometimes things can get better and then worse than better. Remember to stay strong and that thoughts have a huge impact on health so you want to walk down that aisle one day? You will even if it’s the last thing you do. My dad lived 8 years longer than expected so miracles happen!

I have a feeling I have gastroparesis or Crohns, or somewhere along those lines, I am headed to the Mayo Clinic in 2 weeks or less if they can get me in sooner. I’m sorry you have these debilitating illnesses Smiley sad I wish they would put me on a feeding tube because I can’t eat hardly anything. Thank you for the encouragement! I can’t wait to walk down the isle even if I don’t get the best of news, I am very in love and have never had a wedding.

Unfortunately Gastroparesis is becoming not so rare. Before I found out it was GP, I was throwing up non stop, not hungry anymore, going to the bathroom too much or couldn’t at all. I was losing so much weight. You have to ask for a gastric emptying scan and you have to ask for anti nausea medicine. The test will tell if you have delayed gastric emptying and the nausea meds are a life saver. I remember wishing so bad they would tube me but they wouldn’t and thankfully by adjusting things in my life ( not very pleasant like a lot of foods I can no longer eat) I have been stable. Not getting much better but not getting worse which is when they start to really worry. You are at a weight that I would consider tubing and hospitalization for simply because you don’t have much weight left to play with before it’s dangerous and it sounds like maybe you aren’t even absorbing the nutrients which they would have to tube you to bypass the stomach. Any whoo... I have been planning my wedding and I have a whole year plus, two years ago I swore I was dying. Figure out what you have, done give up if they don’t listen and then do your best to manage it. Its 💯 possible that you walk down that aisle one day, the road there may just be extremely bumpy. Feel free to contact me if I can be of any help!!!!
