Postponement due to Covid-19

Sequoia, on May 18, 2020 at 2:00 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 19
Hello! Is anyone else skeptical about whether or not to postpone their weddings that are in the fall due to the pandemic? I’m unsure whether to wait it or do you guys think this will be over by late fall??

Its highly unlikely it’ll be over by this year; not completely anyway but restrictions should improve somewhat by fall. I moved my reception date to late September so I’m hoping by then it’ll be a little better but I’m sure people will still be cautious and may decide not to attend.

My FH and I postponed from spring to fall (October) and our venue is very optimistic about things being okay by then! I think we will make an ultimate decision by end of summer since that would be when we’d have to send out our invitations. I would keep an eye on your state/city regulations and keep in contact with your venue!

I recently postponed until next year. I was 10/10/2020 and now I am 10/09/21. I postponed for two reasons:

    1) even if things die down by fall, the economic impact on my guests will not allow them to travel. (I am doing a destination wedding to Jamaica).

    2) with uncertainties about the second wave and etc, I felt uncomfortable having it in the fall, especially since most guests will have anxiety as well about their health.

We did the same thing, for the same reasons! It was a bummer, but at least now we have longer to save more money, add things we wanted but couldn’t afford the first time around, and extend the length of our trip!

It was a bummer but we had to discuss the importance of not being too selfish. Also, there's no rush to get married per-say- and shouldn't happen at the expense of peoples health and safety.

Yes! We have to keep others in mind. Besides, we’re already married so the ceremony and reception was for our families. I’m thinking I would rather wait and have everyone there. By then we’ll definitely have more money for the things we couldn’t afford this time. I’m still going through with getting my dresses and planing

We haven’t officially postponed but I am in contact with 10 vendors and trying to find a new date in 2021 that works for all so as to not have to break any contracts.

Our wedding is planned for 10/10/20 - We have no plans of changing it. I've been watching the news nearly daily for updates. While I don't believe we've seen the end of Covid, I honestly don't see another world shut-down. The economic impact it has already caused would cause essentially everyone to crumble and I can't see any government body in the US or Worldwide being OK with that.

The majority of states are slowly, but surely lifting their restrictions and a good part of the US will be almost back to "normal" 250 + event size capacities by the end of July.

I am moving forward as well. Things are improving daily. I am 10/31/20 and have over 160 days left. With the improvements so far. I am hopeful I can have my under 100 reception. I moved my wedding ceremony to a beautiful location because the venue will not allow a wedding without a reception. I did this just to be on the safe side. I am a type a personality. So I have to have everything in order or a panic. So at least I know I will be married on 10/31/20 regardless of anything and that is the most important thing.

Hey Sequoia! It's still so hard to say, but no matter when your wedding date it fair to feel nervous!

You should definitely check out this popular discussion where fall brides have been sharing their concerns and current plans: Has anyone postponed their October, November, or December wedding yet?

Our wedding is October 17, 2020. We are currently waiting it out and are planning on making a decision around if we are postponing or not in late July/ early August.
