Postponed Wedding - 2 ceremonies?

Leah, on April 6, 2020 at 11:00 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 2
Hi there,

We have postponed our Saturday April wedding to a Friday October wedding. Originally we were getting married on a Saturday so our Rabbi could marry us. Slim pickings for a new date and we ended up with a Friday date and our Rabbi can’t marry us on our new date.
We’d still like to get married by our Rabbi so we need to do it before our new October date. My family is local, but my fiancé’s family all has to travel which means they probably won’t come to the official one. We’ve brought it up to them before and are understanding.
However I’m stuck on whether to have a “vowel renewal” at our new date or just to have the reception.
Any advice will help!!!

Well it seems that the main aspect of the ceremony that you really want is for your rabbi to marry you, he isn’t available on your new date so its not really necessary to have a 2nd ceremony. That is unless you cant cancel your venue or if you had some special parts of the ceremony that you wanted to share with your family and friends. Its up to you if u want a vow renewal, what are you leaning towards?

    Hi Leah,

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this, and I know the uncertainty of everything is crazy stressful!! You are definitely not alone right now!

I think it would be a great idea to have a reception on your new date and share pictures from your ceremony at the reception. Then your guests that couldn't make it are able to share in that moment with you!

We've gathered some tips and resources you can check out here: COVID-19 Wedding Support Central.

    I hope this helps!

    Smiley heart
