Post-wedding blues?

Claire, on November 8, 2021 at 10:19 AM Posted in Married Life 1 7
After almost 6.5 years of dating, I married the love of my life on 10/29/2021. Other than incessant rain, our ceremony and reception were so perfect and I’m so very happy. But I can’t stop crying. I was pretty composed day of, but every day since, I’ve been a weepy mess. Happy, sad, mildly inconvenienced, anything can bring it on. Has anyone else dealt with this? Maybe I’m just coming down from all of the stress and finally able to let go?

Trust me, the lack of stress hits you in a weird way. Think of it as relief tears!

I absolutely had post wedding blues - i think because for the longest time you were planning something and it was your central focus or one of your central focuses so when it's over you're kind of left thinking ok well now what? best advice from me is look for something to focus on next Smiley smile

Combination of stress relief and knowing one of the most important days of your life is over. Totally normal! Start planning a vacation or pick up an old hobby Smiley smile

OH MY GOODNESS! That was me TODAY!! LOL! I just got married this weekend. I didn't cry as much as I thought I did during rehearsal and day of wedding. I think it was because I was so nervous, happy, and excited. And looking back at the pictures and videos I BALLED my eyes out so much this morning before work. And it was all happy tears! I was just so HAPPY because of all the stress, the planning, etc. It was everything I wanted and MORE! And because of that it made me cry so much. But my husband and I agreed that we did feel a little sad today because it was all over now. But regardless we are sooooo happy with how everything turned out and so thankful for all our family and friends and even vendors for making it such a memorable day. Smiley smile

The day after, I described it as being overwhelmed with love. The love I felt, the love I was shown by everyone, that’s definitely still part of my emotions today, I just want to feel less like a crazy person!

I had/have this!! Although it manifests itself in different ways... I've been overly emotional in the last 6 weeks

Post wedding blues are for sure a thing!! I did not experience them but I know people who have experienced this same thing. I agree with Melle about finding something else to focus on or something to keep you busy. Our wedding was 2 weeks away from the holidays so I think that helped keep the blues away as a lot of stuff was going on immediately after our big day.
