Post wedding blues

Any one else have to majorly scale down their wedding this past summer because of COVID and are now feeling really sad you didn’t get a big wedding you had dreamt of? Don’t get me wrong I’m beyond thankful to be married to my absolute soul mate but I’m just feeling really down lately that it wasn’t what I dreamt of.. anyways I just needed to rant somewhere. Best wishes to you all

I know how it feels. However, mine was not caused by covid. It has been 23 years since we eloped and I still wished we had a wedding I dreamt of instead of elopement. Well, at least we are planning for a wedding renewal in 2022. You too, can plan for a vow renewal.

Are you still planning on doing a larger celebration/part 2? 🤍

We kept most of our original elements except the DJ/dancing component and downsized to 35 guests. I was definitely bummed out, but made peace with our decision.
I do have waves of sadness, though. Seeing perfect pictures from pre-2020 weddings is hard.
The other day my dad remarked how badly he had wanted to dance and celebrate at our wedding, and how he hopes we can have a party in the future (spoiler: we can’t afford that).
It sucks, but at least for me, talking with other brides and focusing on the happy parts of the day helps. 💕

Yes, but I wasn't sad. I was 😌 relieved. Less stress and money. Lastly, I hate all the attention on me.

That’s nice. You are very humble. I also hate the attention, and that’s why I always wanted a destination wedding with no guest. I always thought, instead of spending money for others, I want to spend those money for me and dh. No one else. Well, now that we have adult kids and 1 bonus kid, we are including them to our wedding as our bridal party. I sometimes wish I am as humble as you, but 20+ years and nope... as for forgetting my dream wedding I can’t. I am still deeply regretting my elopement because I had no control over it at all, and it was nothing romantic. Nothing.

I had a scaled down wedding due to budget not due to COVID and I was a little sad. I was happy with how things turned out in the end but there was still that twinge of sadness. Looking back I think I just love the thought of weddings. I've had 3 wedding type events in my life. My husband and I are already tentatively planning a vow renewal in Vegas for post COVID just because we love weddings and each other and want to re-live it all again ha.

My mom was diagnosed with MS recently so have decided not to for her safety and the never ending unknowns. Another wedding wouldn’t be right without her
