Post-reception Activity

Haylee, on February 26, 2020 at 1:51 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 10

My fiance and I will be staying at the same property where our wedding ceremony and reception will be. I don't know what to do when it's time to do the traditional reception exit - so we say goodbye to all of our guests? Do we still rent a limo and go somewhere for an hour or so? Do we go do something with the wedding party?

ANYONE ANY ANY FUN OR DIFFERENT IDEAS?!

Is your reception indoors? Outdoors? Could you still have a "farewell line up" with sparklers/bubbles/confettie/whatever else? What you do after the wedding is personal preference. FH and I will be off to stay in a different location, but we're just going to do a sparkler send off and go to his car, since we're driving all day the next day to our honeymoon.

Yeah, I'd like to do the farewell line-up...i just don't want it to be farewell directly to the bedroom haha!

We are not leaving for our honeymoon until the following Friday so the day after might be brunch and clean up as my wedding will be all outdoors in my parents' backyard the next day anyway.

We opted not to do a “farewell”. Most of our guests stayed until it was over and best it was a DW we went to a local bar and continued the party.

Maybe like a wine bar with the wedding party although half of them might be pretty toasted by then

I’m trying to figure this out as well. Our ceremony/reception will be in one place. I know after the reception we will have a campfire and s’mores. But I don’t know how we’re going to wrap it up at the end of the night. All of our guests are staying at the same location, and then we’ll have breakfast in the morning. I guess we’ll just thank everyone and say goodnight? I’m not sure lol

I would just think about if there is something fun to do nearby. You could go drink more, you could go get some midnight snacks if there's a fun diner or a favorite food place. Any activities/places you guys enjoy (that can be done while drunk)? I've definitely seen plenty of wedding parties out at bars or clubs after the wedding. We're planning on heading out with our wedding party to a couple of the other breweries on the same street where our reception is.

Our venue is a B&B so we (along with a portion of our bridal party) will be staying the night but it is about a minute drive down from where the reception will be so I think that allows us to still have a big exit (so everyone knows it's time to leave and reception hall can be cleaned up by 10pm) and our bridal party will meet us at the cabins for "after party" once everyone else is gone. I would definitely recommend making some sort of exit, even if you just go hide out somewhere for half an hour so your guests don't stay longer than you want them to.
