Possibly no rehearsal dinner

So we definitely want to have a rehearsal the day before for our wedding party so everyone feels comfortable day of. But the problem is we can't afford to pay for a rehearsal dinner afterwards. Yes, the grooms parents generally pay for this but they have already given us a good amount of money for...

So we definitely want to have a rehearsal the day before for our wedding party so everyone feels comfortable day of. But the problem is we can't afford to pay for a rehearsal dinner afterwards. Yes, the grooms parents generally pay for this but they have already given us a good amount of money for the wedding because my parents couldn't. So we can't ask them for even more money. We thought about having a pitch in at our house after but we live 45 minutes away from the church so logistically that will not work. Is it terrible to not have a dinner afterwards?! Help!

    My fiancé and I also couldn't afford an all out rehearsal dinner and his parents gave us money for a different part of the wedding (open bar) as a formal rehearsal dinner wasn't as high on the priority list.... So we scheduled our rehearsal for 10am and have a restaurant doing crapes/omelets for all guest at 11am. It cut the cost being brunch and no booze...
