Definitely not a deal breaker, though my fiance is a English major, so I don't have to worry about this...I'm the one who doesn't care about grammar, luckily he doesn't seem to mind Smiley smile

This is a red flag, but not a deal breaker. FH might say some things incorrectly, but hey! We're southern! We say most things wrong anyway!

It would drive me crazy, but not a red flag or deal breaker.

It really depends. I love my FH so much that if he did have some trouble with grammar, I'd want to help him, not end the relationship over it.

I’m an English teacher, so poor spelling and grammar probably “bother” me more than they might somebody else. That being said, my FH has decent grammar and spelling. He does have me proof important emails and uses me as a human dictionary, but he helps me with anything math related, so we’re good!

Little bit of a red flag but not a huge deal. FH uses “was” when he sound use “were”, and it secretly drives me crazy because I’ve alwayd been a grammar person. 😂 I usually look past it, though!

I would do most of the speaking and work with him on his skill set until he is up to speed. Not a deal breaker at all.

Ooof, I can't really deal, unless I know that English is not their first language. I'm far too much of a word person.

Thankfully, FH is an actor and a writer, so words are our thing.

(...Naturally, we both have writer's block with our vows!)

I would just tease him relentlessly. Not even a red flag for me.

Honestly no opinion on this one. I have been dyslexic and had trouble with grammar my entire life. So, I can't fault anyone for their grammar.

I don't know if it would be a deal breaker but if "dey tkd lik dis" and text like that all the time, it would be an issue. Actually yeah, deal breaker

Deal breaker--if I was even negotiating. How someone speaks, within the bounds of their ability, says a lot about them, in my opinion.

If I had to choose, I'd say a red flag but I mean my FH is not that great of a speller and some words I notice he doesn't say correctly. It bothers my soul sometimes but he's actually pretty smart.

I would go insane listening to someone speak illiterately for hours and hours. I couldn't be with someone who didn't speak with proper grammar at least 80% of the time.

My biggest pet peeve is the fact that he seems incapable of figuring out the correct form of there and your, but it's not the end of the world.

Red flag. If English is your first language, I expect for you, as an adult to have decent grammar. That being said, FH’s first language is Spanish so he gets a pass but I do fuss when his Spanish grammar is lacking ha ha.
