Pnina's VIP clients

C & K, on May 27, 2015 at 5:10 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 33

I just watched Say Yes to the Dress and this was a special episode where Pnina Tornei has exclusive appointments with clients to custom design their gowns. The amount of money these women spent on dresses is just ludicrous to me! One bride spent over $200,000 on dresses for herself, her mother, and all bridesmaids! It's other brides spent $50,000 and $45,000 on their dresses! So Pnina made over $300,000 with just three appointments! I'm in the wrong profession lol. I wish I had that kind of money to spend. I don't even think I would spend that much on dresses even if I did have that kind of money. Sorry, just felt the urge to express my opinion lol.

Yeah there's no way I'd spend that kind of money on a dress even if I had it.

Are her dresses the ones with the see-through panels?

I'm going to feel just as beautiful in my $1800 dress that they do in their $50,000 dress.

Yes. This is also one of her dresses that I think everyone on Say Yes to the Dress picks:

    Emmy - yes

    And cheap lace.

    And visible boning.

Ugh. It's like Long Island threw up on a dress shop.

If I had the money (or if her dresses were less expensive) I would have LOVED to get one of her dresses. They're just all so gorgeous. I always drooled over them on SYTTD.

ETA: Not the see through paneling ones.. weird.

I never understood the appeal of Pnina's gowns (and that corset dress with the boning and the skin just confuses me). To each his own I suppose. As for people spending hundreds of thousands on gowns -- well, it's their money. They travel in a socio-economic circle that makes such expenses the cost of doing business. I'm sure they also have an entire team devoted to handling every aspect of their incredibly luxurious, off the chart weddings -- in other words, we're not going to find those ladies on the DIY threads.

I honestly don't get why everyone picks them. Maybe it's just me but I totally don't see the appeal of sheer panels, visible boning, and cheap lace. Id imagine it would take a confident girl to buy one. ..or at least more confident than me. eta: spelling

I personally am not a fan of her dresses and would never ever spend that much money on a dress. That money would be better spent on a house, you know something you can show off more than once.

To be fair, those ones are just the ones that people tend to grab which it think is a reflection on those brides, not Pnina. She does have some actually pretty dresses that are in good taste and not that revealing. To be fair the other way, I don't think paying that much more will necessarily get you a better dress, nor does it make you more married.

Pnina said that she designs the dresses with the boning and sheer panels that way because brides today want to be sexier. Sexier does not always equate with nakedness

I totally agree, Mrs. Sloan! Those dresses combined cost more than my house! Some of her design are beautiful, but most are too gaudy for me. I mean, I love bling, but not over the top bling.
