Plus Ones for Single People?

There are a few people on my guest list that are not dating. We are having a pretty small wedding (70 people max). Do I waste seats on dates that they don’t have/random people that I don’t know ? What if they get in a serious relationship in between me sending out invites and the wedding?

Plus ones are optional for single people. Inviting the partner of anyone in a relationship isn’t optional.

Wait until they ask. I didn’t provide plus ones unless I knew the name of their partner. However, lots of people ended up asking me for plus ones (some people brought same gender friends not even a date). In the end SO many people didn’t come or changed their mind due to covid that I gave everyone who asked a plus one. You can just tell them you will let them know once your RSVPs come in. I invited 211 and had 123 come, and that’s including a bunch of random plus ones that I didn’t know. In the end I had 5 people cancel the week of and ended up asking people to bring their friends so the money I paid for the food wouldn’t be wasted!

Also in response to people who say they hate random plus ones- I get this, but in my case I didn’t know 1/3 of the guests at my wedding anyway bc I hadn’t met any of my husbands step dad’s siblings, who all came, and I hadn’t met a lot of his friends and their dates. Also, I had a bunch of my moms cousins who I hadn’t met or hadn’t seen in years. In the end I gave out plus ones to everyone who asked and honestly they were all fun. I had a fabulous time at my wedding even though I had never previously met 30% of the guest list. They were still all there to celebrate me and my hubby and to help us have fun!

I had a pandemic wedding and ensured that plus ones were vaccinated before letting them come.
