Please help me chose - Stuck between 2 dresses.

Caitlin, on November 21, 2021 at 11:05 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

I'm sorry this is a bit of a long one but - I am stuck between two dresses and need to make a decision soon. I've tried on many dresses and these feel the most like me. Wedding is sometime in the Summer - on either a lavender farm or a downtown rooftop tropical greenhouse.

Option 1: I love this dress I found at a bridal boutique, it's so me, and I've tried it on like 4 times. In the photo you can see. that it doesn't quite fit and it can’t be ordered in another size, so if it gets sold that’s it. I love it except I just wish it were longer. They actually said that they can alter it to make it longer (and fit of course) and could even do a color transition from the champagne color it is to a light salmon color which would be totally my style. I brought in a drawing (below) of the dress I want but can’t find one anywhere and this option is the closest. This dress is reasonably priced at $750 but the alterations would put it close to $1300-$1500. I love the high low style, the sweetheart top, and the layering, also it’s off-white-ness. I was thinking it would look good with a sparkly belt around the waist. I can afford it - It’s just really hard to make a call without being able to really see the alterations. It would be a big leap of faith.

Option 2: I actually ordered this dress on clearance from David’s Bridal and it’s on hold for me at the store until Thanksgiving weekend when I’ll have to decide if I want to return it. It’s got lace/embroidery and some sparkle which I like. I also like the split-style top of the dress. I didn’t think I would like a mermaid style but this wasn’t so bad. Even though the one in the picture doesn’t fit me I like that it shows off more curves. It was a good price at $650 and it has a lot of things I like. Also, the DB associate pined it up on me a little to show they could make it into a high low style if I wanted although I may like just as is too.

Thank you in advance- I'm usually very decisive and am irritated that I can't choose!

First dress ..... The top bust area of #2 does not flatter you, in my opinion.

Yes, I agree with the others! You feel your emotions in the first dress. It IS a risk, but you're clearly in love, and I think it would be worth it - you look gorgeous in it!

With either dress you will have to get each altered, right?

My seamstress charged a flat fee of $550 for wedding gown. Even tho the second one is a tad less expensive I think they will both end up being around the same price. If money is what you’re worried about, they are basically in the same ballpark so I would go with the one you love more.
