please Help. Having major dress regrets.

Hi ladies, I've been lurking for a long time. Finally posting.

A month ago, I bought a dress from David's Bridal online (https://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_illusion-back-organza-halter-wedding-dress-wg3936). It was on sale on what I thought was my size although it turned out to be still too big and needs to be taken in. I thought it was a style I wanted as I always imagined I would be in a big puffy dress on my big day. Most of all, it was a good price at $350.

Fast forward to this week, I started having major regrets. I was seeing a lot of wedding pictures with girls wearing form-fitted dresses and wished I had tried those on as well. I ordered a different dress online which fits almost perfectly on me and I think it is much more flattering.

My questions are:

1. Does the second look "bridal" enough? Should I just wear this dress for the whole day?

2. Should I wear the first DB dress for the ceremony and the second dress for reception?

Any advice would be very, very helpful. Starting to think I picked my first dress based on price and now I am having lots of anxiety and regret Smiley sad

The second dress definitely looks bridal, and it is absolutely stunning on you!! 🤩
As far as whether or not you should wear both dresses, I think this should be completely dependent on how you want to look and feel when you marry your fiancé. Do you envision yourself as a “princess bride” in a large poofy gown? Or do you see yourself more as a chic, modern bride? Follow your heart and your gut on this one, and don’t wear a dress simply because you already have it… wear it only if you feel beautiful and confident in it.

I would say wear whichever one(s) you feel great in. If it’s just the second one, then just wear that. Don’t feel like you NEED to wear both just because you bought them. And yes, the second one looks bridal!

Do what your gut tells you to do! The second dress absolutely looks bridal enough, and it looks AMAZING too!!! One thing you could do is to write yourself a note/to-do list to call the alterations place and set up an appt to get the 1st dress altered. IF you find yourself hesitating to make the call, or wanting to keep pushing it off until later, then go ahead and try to sell the first dress to recoup some of your money. And don't sink more money into altering it. You could (and should!) wear both dresses if you love both dresses, but don't fall prey to the sunk cost fallacy.

Both are stunning and the second dress definitely says bride! Only wear the first dress if you end up feeling good about it again. If your feeling not your best in the ceremony- it will show in your pics! You want to be feeling superb about your dress

I myself have a big poofy princess dress so do take this with a grain of salt. There are SO many occasions where you could wear dresses like the second one (in other colours) but basically zero where you’d be able to wear the first, so I’d choose the ballgown - you don’t often get the occasion to wear one!

That said, you should choose the one that you don’t want to take off, that feels magical on you, irrespective of whether there are other occasions to wear dresses like that or not!

If you feel comfortable in both then I’d wear both dresses on the big day! Stay strong and remember that you want to feel comfy running around saying hi to all your guests and taking photos too.

Personally, I want to wear 2 different dresses if my partner and I have it in us to get a big venue. But it also depends on whether the ceremony dress is comfortable enough to wear all day/night. Keep that in mind!

Thank you everyone for the responses ❤️ Such helpful suggestions. This community is amazing, seriously! I really love the advice about wearing what I feel most beautiful in.

My venue will be outdoors at a cute farm in the summer! It will actually be an early morning ceremony at 11am and lunch reception.
