Just got engaged and and starting this whole DW planing process. Is anyone else doing an large wedding in Playa del Carmen (120+) ?

I’m really trying to find somewhere we can do everything in with a chapel, and still have late night party options—bars/lounge, or a nightclub on site. The thought of having to move that many people around to different locations freaks me out. Any recommendations are welcome!

What made you decide to plan a destination wedding in Mexico? Have you or your SO been there before?

We are also doing a DW (we're originally from Chicago) and I'm surprised how many people are planning on attending. It's about 80 at this point but we purposely planned it 2 years out so people had time to save. We're doing it at Barcelo which actually has a chapel on it property if you're looking for a ceremony like that. Reception only goes to 10pm but there's so many 24 h bars on the property we just plan to move the party there

Its going well! I think I've got my venue. After a lot of thought, we've decided to shuttle people around. I've got my church, but still looking at a venue that I'm 95% sure we'll book in the next few days

Congrats on finding your venue! Barcelo is gorgeous! I ended up deciding to do it outside of a hotel because of the time limit they put on the reception and for fear that I wouldn't meet the accommodations requirements (I think its like 80%).

Are you from the area or are you traveling from the US?

I didn't know the area enough to doing anything outside a resort. Luckily I come from a family that travels a lot so everyone plans on making this their yearly vacation

Thats awesome! I still hope thats what people are planing to do and just making a vacation out of it... but I'm also trying to do this 12 months out so who knows! I'm not from the area, we live in the US but have family coming in from here, other parts of mexico, el salvador and sweden. If it was just everyone coming in from the US I know what we consider affordable, but it was hard to try and do that with people flying in from so many other places. I ended up hiring a local wedding to help me with vendors and what not.
