Plates at table vs at buffet line...

Mrs. Smith-Smith To Be, on May 27, 2014 at 9:45 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

As I've mentioned before, we're are having a small, intimate wedding...a total of 48, which includes me & FH. The venue is small, and we are having a BBQ buffet. Because of space, I plan to seat the guests at their table. With that said, I'm trying to decide if I want the put the plate settings at the tables so they won't look so bare, or just have the chargers and napkins on the tables, and put the plates near the buffet.

The walk from the table to the buffet area will not be a long walk...maybe 10 feet, so I wouldn't think it would be "weird" taking an empty plate up to the buffet...but that's just me.

Thoughts?

I'm having a buffet we just have charger plates at the table... My thoughts were people with a few drinks in them don't have to remember to bring the plate with them.

Personally, I prefer for them to be by the buffet, but if you're worried about the tables looking bare I don't think it would be weird to have the plates at the table as long as the lines won't get too long, which with 48 guests I doubt they will.
