our venue allows outside catering and just in general any other vendors. That being said our caterer is not a plated service it’s buffet style. How do y’all feel about plastic plates that are cute and disposable? Our venue does not allow dishes to be washed there so I really don’t want to buy glass...

Our venue does not allow dishes to be washed there so I really don’t want to buy glass dishes and carry them out dirty.
Personally time growing up we never had fancy super crazy expensive parties. At my sweet 15 we had disposable paper plates lol. And even other family parties.
But I’ve been reading posts/blogs about how it’s rude to have disposable plates or whatever. Why is this? If the guest aren’t paying a dime for the wedding, they are there to celebrate the marriage of the couple and not to judge.
Anyone else thinking of having disposable plastic plates Rather than $5 per glass plate? I know it’s such a small thing but it’s crazy how much $ goes into the small stuff.

Disposable serveware, plates, and utensils are completely fine! We are doing everything disposable because of COVID, cleaning up will be easier, and its so much cheaper!

These are what we are planning on using and saving the rest for home use. I personally prefer eco friendly but they also have some really beautiful plastic disposbles!

We are having the same issue with our caterer & the venue does not have china. My daughter and her fiancee are completely fine with disposable. I am going to order the compostable set to see how they hold up! We are definitely leaning toward disposable! I do think that disposables have become more acceptable at wedding venues!

I am hosting a cocktail-style reception in an old house. I found some beautiful and sturdy plates at Home Goods. The menu will include appetizers, fruits, cupcakes, and drinks only. Everything will be served on pretty plastic dishes, flutes, and cups, and I will have flower arrangements to enhance the decor. That's it! Ultimately, what matters most to us is the Sacrament. I believe people often complicate things. I know friends who have spent thousands of dollars on their weddings, only to end up divorced. A fancier wedding doesn’t always guarantee a strong relationship. Focus on what you can afford; if your guests truly love you, they won’t mind.

Sure. Weddings should be a nice event but do not have to be super glamourous especially as the weddings have been designed and on the couple's budget. It used to be our parents who paid for the wedding and was geared much toward their guests and image rather than ours.
