Plastic cups?

Do you think it's tacky to use clear plastic cups for sodas and mixed drinks? We are using glass for martinis (signature drink), champagne, wine, water, and drinks on the rocks. And we are serving beer in the bottle. But the caterer told us we would need about 450 cups for mixed drinks/soda and that...

Do you think it's tacky to use clear plastic cups for sodas and mixed drinks?

We are using glass for martinis (signature drink), champagne, wine, water, and drinks on the rocks. And we are serving beer in the bottle. But the caterer told us we would need about 450 cups for mixed drinks/soda and that throws our rental budget over by $300, so FH said to just get nice plastic cups for those... is that tacky?

    Thank you all so much for your input. I really appreciate it! So if we have martini, champagne, wine, and water glasses. How many all-purpose glasses do you think is adequate for 75 people for a 4 hour reception... like 4 per person?

    Maybe 300 all-purpose glasses?

    And then I have 360 of the other types of glasses.

    $300 is a very small amount of money. I would do all glass. You've got 6-7 months to figure your budget out to make it work.

    We are doing disposable plates, silverware and cups. I think that's an easier way to clean up and there won't be plates sitting around. They make some plastic tableware that actually looks great! Good quality!

    @March, I already ordered glass plates and everything. I'm gonna try to figure out some way to eliminate the plastic at this point.

    I'm gonna have to call the rental place tomorrow.
