Plastic Cups

I can not change venues, at this point. I can't afford to provide my own glasses & even if I did, who would wash them at the end off the night. I am considering renting glasses, but it's an extra expense I was not anticipating. I'm so embarrassed at the thought of plastic glasses, at a beautiful venue.

What is your feeling about being served a drink in a plastic glass, at a wedding?

As a wedding guest, I've always looked it is a free party so why would I complain about what kinds of cups they used? (or anything for that matter) Don't fret, it will be great no matter what cups you have!

Bummer! To be honest as a guest I wouldn’t mind at all! As a bride I would care so I feel your pain. But there’s more guests Than brides so although it’s a bummer I would not attempt to add expenses

As a guest it would not bother me in the least.

We had 2 glasses break at our reception and our DJ had to make announcements because people were dancing barefoot and people had to clear out of the way for it to get cleaned up, so I kind of wish my venue gave us all plastic cups. I think the clear plastic cups are fine. If you have the money to rent glasses and it's really important to you, then go for it, but it wouldn't bother me as a guest. As long as the food was good and the drinks were free, I wouldn't care what I was drinking out of.

I agree with PP that clear plastic cups are fine! You could even ask for the smaller ones for wine and larger ones for beer. I wouldn't be bothered by plastic as a guest but as a host I don't want red solo cups!

It wouldn't bother me as a guest but I would be surprised by it. Especially if it was a formal wedding in the general sense of things. I would probably thing there was an upgrade fee that you didn't want to pay.

I once attended a wedding where the couple had bought a bunch of mismatched glasses from Goodwill. There was a sign by the glasses saying that each person should pick one, and it was theirs for the night and to keep afterwards. If you don't mind the rustic and/or vintage look of mismatched glasses, it's actually quite charming.

I personally would go with renting glasses (well, I am going with that, at my own wedding). It's less wasteful than single-use cups, and I think is more welcoming to guests. Whenever I am given disposable plates or cups at someone's home I can't help but feel that they don't consider me worth using the real stuff, or worth washing a plate. I think the difference real glasses make, although subtle, is worth more than other decor options such as floral centerpieces or colored linens.

Do you have a link to the type of cup you used? Or a store/website name to buy them? Thanks
