Planning

According to my planning checklist, the next up for me is "order save the dates" and "research wedding invite paper". How do I even start to do this? We aren't even sure if we want to do save the dates, and if we do, we would probably only do the people who live out of town or people we don't talk to constantly. But to do that, we should have our guest list pretty secure. Which we don't. We have a year until the wedding.

How did you all decide on save the dates, picking out which ones you do, getting the best deal? I feel lost!

We're only sending save the dates to family and family friends, we only have a few friends/past coworkers on the list and a lot can change between now and sending invites in March. We're sending them to give our out of towners a heads up, as well as those who may want to take off the Monday after our wedding since we're having a Sunday afternoon wedding (even though it ends at 8).

Save the dates are sent out 6-8 months before the wedding if you do decide to send them, a few months earlier if it's a destination wedding. You definitely have plenty of time, somethings on the planning list are a little wonky regarding timing in my opinion lol Smiley smile

I skipped them entirely. Now a days you can just send emails as them instead.

We did save the dates for everyone. We are the age where everyone is getting married, having babies, buying houses, etc. so they needed to know our date way in advance. We ordered them from Zazzle after we did engagement photos.

Our wedding photographer offered a free engagement shoot and up to 100 STDs with our wedding package, so even though we don't have that many out of town guests, we decided to do the STDs, since it wasn't going to cost anything extra (except postage). So, once we had our engagement photos, we designed the STD, and our photographer had them printed and sent to us. They turned out so cute!

The timeline on Wedding Wire is really just a guideline. It's not set in stone, and you can adjust it according to what works best for you and FH.

STDs typically go out 6-8 months before the wedding. You can research pricing on any of the invitation websites, like Minted, Zazzle, Ann's Bridal Bargains, VistaPrint, etc. Even though our photographer was designing ours (with our input), I did go on those websites, to get an idea for the style I wanted.
