Well DIY can be really fun and a nice way to custom things that would otherwise cost more but it can be time consuming and sometimes not as cost effective as ya think

DIY like crafts or DIY like finding your own vendors instead of hiring someone to pick them out?


Crafts can be more expensive if you don't do them regularly because your time and sanity are equal to money spent.
Finding your own vendors can be easy. Take a look at the vendor tab at the top of the page and comparison shop.

In terms of planning the wedding, if you want something elaborate, and aren't generally organised, then I think a planner is the way to go. We are having all the bells and whistles for our wedding and it will be 'higher brow' but I am planning it all myself because I am super organised and LOVE planning things.

If you mean with regard to making items and going DIY, again it really depends. If you have a certain vision in mind that can't easily be replicated doing it yourself, or don't have time to dedicate to making things, then DIY may not be the best route.

Its saveing effective. However i perfer 50 50 meaning somethings ill do but depending on what type of wedding it is and how big is it ...i would perfer help.

I think it's more cost-effective to do a wedding on your own. My husband and I didn't hire a wedding planner because we didn't want one. I DIY-ed a ton of stuff for our ceremony/reception and I DIY-ed our RSVP cards to match our invitations because my husband wanted funny ones and the ones offered with our invitations were more elegant. I'm also an extremely organized person so I picked up a planner at Target and wrote down that dates I wanted specific things for our wedding done by & what days to order certain things. As far as vendors go, I researched the crap out of the vendors in my area to find the best quality vendor for the best deal.

Overall, it was a lot of work to plan on our own, but we did it with no issues because we planned everything out ahead of time. As long as you don't mind putting in the extra work, it's possible to do a wedding on your own.

I love handmade things, but have a tendency to get in over my head with DIY! I purchased most of my wedding items on Etsy and am so glad I did!
