Planning

Caila, on November 6, 2019 at 10:13 AM Posted in Planning 0 10

Hi!! I am wondering when it too early to be planning. We are getting married August 1, 2020. I want to get things going like decorations and DJ and smaller things. MY FH thinks it's a bit early and doesn't seem to be interested.

We have our venue, reception hall, colors, photographer, caterer chosen (haven't decided on food) and wedding party picked. Am I moving too fast??

I'm Sept of 2020 I have the following done: Venue, catering, DJ booked, photographer booked, officiant booked, dress bought, bridal party picked out and bridesmaid dresses know where to order from; hair stylist booked; rehearsal dinner placed booked; save the dates went out last week and baker booked. We aren't doing flowers so I don't need a florist.

That being said, I think booking vendors such as a DJ and photographer can be done soon. I think waiting on decor items is fine. I have slowly started gathering items, found some on sale and on Facebook marketplace.

Definitely not moving too fast! You're less than a year out so now is the perfect time to be working on things. My FH had no idea we needed to be planning as soon as we got engaged (June 2019) if we wanted to have our wedding in May 2020 (ended up moving it up to February 2020) until we started looking for venues and they were almost booked up! He also isn't that interested, but that's generally to be expected from most grooms lol.

I'm getting married on November 27th, 2020 and have already completed the following:

    1) Venue

    2) DJ

    3) Caterer

    4) Flowers

    5) Save-the-Dates

    6) Wedding favors (hand making them)

    7) Chosen bridesmaid dresses and asked my girls

It's never too early to be planning. Even if you're just researching and/or meeting vendors for consultations or tastings, it's a lot less stressful when you give yourself plenty of timing instead of trying to pack everything into a 6 month timeframe.

Nope, not too soon. The sooner you get everything done, the less stressed you will be as your wedding approaches. We had all of the big stuff done 5-6 months before our wedding and it made the weeks leading up to the wedding day very relaxed and enjoyable.

You’re in the right time! Men don’t know, they think everything is so easy and fast but if you want to get the best deal and/or vendors that you want the earlier the better, you’ll see time goes flying

Definitely not moving too fast! I'd make sure that all of your vendors are booked (sounds like you're almost there), order your dress if you haven't already, and work on your save the dates. Your decorations can wait until next year but there's still plenty you can be working on now!

The earlier the better. We started touring venues in 2017 for our 2020 wedding and hr hadn't officially proposed yet. We decided on everything last year and have been making payments. We will have everything paid well before our October wedding. I even bought my dress in April of 2017 because I knew it was what I wanted. Wedding planning is full of highs and lows emotionally, which I didn't expect but I took respite in the fact that we had a plan and our lifestyle wouldn't suffer in order to pay everything off.

Hello wedding date twin ! you are doing quite good, i wouldn't rush for decorations just yet due to new trends coming up , if you are having a destination wedding like i am maybe work on the save the dates and send them , you should go dress shopping and maybe book the dj soon !

I'm October 2020 and have a caterer, bakery for cake, venue, color scheme, bridal party, and bridesmaid dresses decided. No such thing as too fast! I just wouldn't stress yourself out by thinking about the countdown, but a few things at a time is not a bad thing! Better have things planned out early so we can enjoy our summer and months ahead of the wedding knowing mostly everything is done!
