Planning early

Maggie, on June 29, 2020 at 2:35 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 16

My wedding is almost a year away. I have my dress, dj and venue. I am struggling a little on where to go next and what aspects benefit from early planning.

I think early planning great. As of now you only have little to worry about cake decor onviting ppl (if u have not) and ...if you have a wedding party.

Catering would be the next thing I’d look into. They book up way in advance!

Sounds like you've got a great start! Are you planning to hire a photographer or videographer? If so, I would recommend looking into booking those vendors next, just to make sure you are able to book the ones you want before anyone else does. Otherwise, you could look into florists, setting up a hotel room block, and getting ideas for bridesmaids dresses. Also check out some of the checklists online (such as the one on The Knot), those gave me a good idea of what I should be working on at what time. Good luck, and happy planning!

The benefits of early planning are better for things like people that need to be booked.

but you can also use this time to research for deals and what not on items you need to buy like during holiday sales and what not

Catering and photography would be good to do next. And an officiant.

Planning as early as possible is great since vendors (esp now with all the reschedules) are probably going to be booked up. I'd definitely look into an officiant next and a photographer/videographer if you will have one. You can also start looking into inspiration for themes/colors/decor etc.

Photographer (and videographer if you choose). They will book up quick! Especially with many weddings being pushed back from 2020 to 2021. Also, your caterer. Planning early is good. You will have the best choices in vendors Smiley smile .

If you don't have a caterer already, I would book that vendor next. If you already have that handled, then I would book your photographer and videographer (if you want one). Planning earlier is good because you won't have as much to worry about once the wedding is closer. You will likely also have more choices for vendors as they are more likely to be available for your wedding.

As pp have start photographer/catering are a for sure to have done soon as both tend to book early. I love planning early. Another great thing to do is decide what you want for centerpieces/other decor!

I wouldn’t say a year out is early! Especially with everything going on and brides rescheduling into next year, I would secure all of our vendors as soon as you can!

I appreciate all these response's because I am planning the wedding on my own no planner. Also to clarify I meant to say over a year away because it will be next October.

I would recommend booking a photographer and florist ASAP. Their schedules are filling up faster than usual because of covid postponements.

I’m in the same boat! My wedding is Sept 19,2021 but I wanted to get things done early because I know some of the covid brides had to move their weddings to next year. Should I buy save the dates or make them myself ?

I would tick off the big ticket items they make or break your budget. catering and photographer. and you might want to start a list so that your venue/caterer can quote you #s based on said amount.

Planning early is extremely smart, especially with how things are currently! Our wedding is next June and all we have left are the invitations, alcohol, our website and more so nailing down details with our booked vendors. I agree with everyone else that getting a photographer, florist and catering would be good, we got lucky with booking ours early. Happy planning!
