plane travel with Dress- Help!!!

Misty , on September 5, 2019 at 6:38 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Ok- getting married in Hawaii and am contacting Hawaiian Airlines to ask them about carrying my dress on. Their reply "It must be the same size as a carry on and you can put it in the overhead or under the seat." Who am I speaking to!? An IDIOT!? Are you kidding me! Help! Who has flown with a wedding dress that is NOT tiny and can be folded up!?

Mine can be folded up but it is every simple and made of polyester.
I am flying SW and they don’t have any closets (some airlines do) but they have said if there is any empty seats then we can lay it over the seat. They have also said that we can just put it in the overhead bin and lay it over bags.. We love SW!!!
I’d double check that there are no closets on board and if they can’t help you since it’s a wedding dress... I’m also one to call corporate if I am upset with how the people are talking to me.

Thank you for the feedback! We are flying Hawaiian Airlines and I thought they would be THE MOST accommodating. They are definitely NOT. I am so frustrated. But I will try corporate!

That is a good idea too but I am panicked that it will get lost in the mail!

I was able to fold mine in half and put it in a really big suitcase. But, I had to check it. I took it out as soon as we got in our room and hung it up.
I asked a friend who is a flight attendant. She said they’re usually very accommodating for brides with dresses (delta). She said to lay it on top of anything in the over head compartments.

At this point if u were you I would probably contact corporate and if they don’t help... ask Id get a full refund. I am a worrier and REFUSE to send anything via mail and if it arrives before you do it’s just a big risk... I can’t take any risks with the wedding. If you get a refund if honestly really look into SouthWest!
