Place Card Names

OnTheWayToMrsA, on August 7, 2017 at 1:07 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

Hi everyone! I'm just wondering about the proper way to fill out place cards for seating. Do we write out both names for married couples or just "Mr. & Mrs. X?" If the latter, I have a tricky question: a friend of mine (who's also getting married this week!) will be keeping her own last name AND she's a doctor (kickass lady). How would that be written? I don't want to bother her with silly questions while she's preparing for her own wedding, but I also don't want to write the wrong thing. What do you think?

I was planning to write just first and last names and not do honorifics. But then, this is the way it has been done in the weddings I have attended. Following to see what the etiquette is here.

@Mrs. Fall Bride That's what I was hoping, it certainly does make it easier to fill out. Thank you Smiley smile

I did just the names, for the older folks I did Mr or Mrs- just kept it simple.

Each individual should have their own place card. We just did first and last names. I personally think honorifics are overkill on place cards

I have always seen each individual with their own card and they said First Name Last Name.

I was planning to have the names on two lines, so that it wouldn't look weird for those with different last names:

    John & Jane

    Smith

    Table 1

    John Smith &

    Jane Doe

    Table 1

We have a large guest list so I just wanted to do one per couple.
