Place card name etiquette

Private User, on May 8, 2014 at 10:40 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

Should it be "Mrs. John Smith" or "Ms. Mary Smith" on individual place cards? I know I can do just "Mary Smith", but the wedding is semi-formal, so I'm thinking I should use titles. I wonder what Emily Post says!!!!

If my card said "Her Royal Highness Shannon of Spamdonia" I would frame it and keep it forever. But I'm guessing the writing would have to be really small to fit all that.

@Shannon S: Or just a really long escort card.

I actually kept one escort card where they got my name ENTIRELY wrong...just because it made me laugh.

I'm picturing a tiny scroll that you unfurl, showing the entire name and title.

I plan on leaving the Mr and Mrs off and just putting their name. John Doe Jane Doe etc.

Not sure if that is proper etiquette, but it is what I am happy with and I don't think my family will mind either way.

I just wrote people's names without the Mr and Mrs... Oops, I didn't even think about it!!! I'm glad some others are doing this too, lol.
