place card etiquette

Mandy, on August 17, 2017 at 9:55 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

How are you addressing your guests on the place cards?

Mr. John Smith, Tablet 1

or

John Smith, Table 1

Also, are you putting couples on the same place card or separate?

Use titles and everyone gets their own card.

    Thanks ladies!

I might have to put couple on the same card cuz we are giving 1 favor per couple. (most likely putting favor with place card)

I don't how else to do it because if I place favor on the plates I have no idea who is sitting where, I would have to do 1 favor per person.

@OP are you having a plated service with separate meal options? If so, you may be forced into individual escort cards to denote meal options.

If not, you can group couples onto one card and then just have open seating at each table. I recently went to a wedding that was this way and there were no issues.

One person per card seems appropriate. Also, I'm thinking of giving everyone the option of choosing their own title. Several friends of mine have advanced degrees, so I want to give them the option of using 'Dr.'/etc. if they want.

Hi Mandy! It sounds like you mean escort cards instead of place cards? Escort cards tell you what table you are sitting at, place cards just say your name and are placed at your specific seat at the table.

Formality with titles is totally up to you! It sounds like it would be a better idea for you to do couples together on one card so you can attach it to the favor!

    Thanks for the advice everyone!

Still having trouble deciding what I want to do!!!!

Almost leaning towards doing 1 escort card per person and giving each person a favor even though it might cost us a few hundred dollars more....

or maybe I could have MARRIED couple on the same escort card. but people that are dating/engaged get their individual escort cards?
