Has anyone had one? How did you decide how many pizzas to get? We're also having wings and salads. 130 people. I just got off the phone with my amazing mother, whom I absolutely adore, and she thinks I'm insane for wanting to order at least 26 16" pies. Any thoughts would be helpful. Also, it should...

Also, it should be noted, my mom doesn't think anyone will be expecting dinner at the reception. After our 6 pm ceremony. 😭😭😭😭😭 11 days to go and this is what I'm getting grief about?!

Just saw 16". Oops! I think 26 is enough, definitely not too many. I also think it depends on toppings. We order pizzas for parties often and the cheese pizza goes really fast so we always run out and have other kinds that don't get eaten.

The plan is to keep it simple. Like 8 cheese, 8 pepperoni, 2 mushroom, 2 sausage, 2 chicken, 2 banana pepper and 2 others I can't think of off the top of my head.

I'm doing this too! Excited to see someone else having pizza! I think your order of 26 16'' pies is good! I'm estimating about 20 18'' pies for my reception. I'm estimating about 130 guests as well, although I don't have any final numbers yet as its far too early for me. I'm also having wings and salad, along with pans of mostaccioli and fettucine alfredo. That's probably too much food now that I'm looking at it, but that's okay.

My mom tried to talk me out of having pizza initially. I think she was imagining our wedding as a little kid's pizza party. Smiley ups FH is really adamant about having pizza though.

I'm having wood fire pizza catered by the venue. They're venue holds only 150 people and they will be making pizzas throughout the evening. They're planning on making around 150-200 small pizzas (individual sizes).
Our reception starts at 6pm but events wont begin until 7.30pm. It will give us all a chance to eat and mingle in a laid back environment.

My personal rule of thumb when going to receptions is never to expect real food unless stated on the invitation. The invitations we're sending out will ask for people to RSVP because dinner will be provided. I like the thought of taking care of my guests and making sure they're fed and having a wonderful evening.

I don't think 2.5 slices is enough per person. If I'm having pizza I typically eat 3 slices. Throw booze in there and I might eat a fourth.

I LOVE this idea! I would go a little heavier on the cheese unless you know a lot of your crowd loves toppings. Anytime we get pizza at work the meat eaters always ask for pepperoni then eat some pepperoni and some of the cheese, which is the only one I can eat. Same with FH's parents who get shrimp on their pizza.

Ohhh I wanted a pizza truck at my wedding, FH wouldn't go for it! We are doing 2 trucks but they as formal as food trucks can be. I am super jealous!

I would agree to budget at least 3 per person since you have multiple types, some will go faster than others etc. I would also be steering clear of wings at a wedding, so I wouldn't order less just for that reason.

The average pie is 8 slices in my region, so 26 pies is not even enough for each person to have 2 slices. If it's just pizza, wings, and salad, IMO, you need to get way more food than you think you do. And agree with above, I wouldn't touch wings at a wedding, way too messy. Get a lot more pizza.
