Pig Roast Vendors in Central PA

Trish, on April 15, 2014 at 9:13 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

I'm having a very difficult time finding someone to cater our wedding in Dover, PA (@Lakeview Farms) for a pig roast/buffet. We want more creative side dishes than the typical bag of chips and coleslaw I've been finding on the few websites that offer this type of catering. Any help/direction would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!!

So do you already have the pig, you're looking actually for sides vendors? I live in Central PA but it looks like you're a good hour and a half south, so sorry I probably couldn't recommend anyone close enough to you.

We've thought about getting the pig and hiring for sides, but I was surprised that most places say they won't do that. I'll check out MoMos, thank you!

Try a more traditional caterer. We do pig roasts with fancier sides. You might find a caterer who will do the pig roast with no problem rather than only looking at BBQ type places. A lot of caterers won't work with other people's food because of liability issues. If your guests got sick at the wedding (even if it was the pork), the caterer still takes on the liability.

I had this issue for ours so we skipped the pig and are now having a place make us pulled pork and a roasted Turkey. There's a few places my way greensburg pa, that travel but I'm sure that would be a good fee

A quick search in York, PA, which is close to you gave me these:

http://www.tlcatering.com/ Is a caterer that does fancy weddings and BBQ style. If you ask, they can probably come up with a menu that makes you happy.

http://www.strocksmeats.com/pigroast.htm Pig roasts, normal bbq type sides but clearly says if you have a special request to ask them.

http://www.tribbq.com/banquetmenu.html This one is in Lancaster. They have some nicer sides. They also have a tab for wedding cakes. So I would ask them about sides you are interested in.

Update for anyone else who might be looking into pig roast: I spoke with the owner of Tri-County BBQ (the link CrystalS posted) and was so relieved - they do pig roasts on site or delivered sliced (it was listed under their picnic menu but will do it for any event)!! I asked about sides and he has so many options to choose from which I love. And since we already have our cake, they swap the dessert for cocktail hour foods (fresh fruit, veggie trays with dip) at no additional charge. Far more affordable than what I expected, $22.60/person. Thank you for the advice!!

Also check out Porkys place BBQ or mission BBQ

I have a big list at home of vendors I checked with. We are doing a BBQ theme smoked brisket and pulled chicken with homemade sides.
