Nayeli, on June 29, 2017 at 2:49 AM Posted in Planning 0 18

Is anyone else having an outdoor park reception with picnic benches?

My uncle did this a few years ago. It was great! It felt very relaxed and everyone was extremely comfortable.

I would not be happy if that was the only seating. I need some sort of back support after about an hour.

It should be fine for younger people. Just make sure you have other options for older folks or those with mobility issues. Good luck.

I wouldn't like this! Not being able to sit back for hours sounds uncomfortable.

We wouldn't stay for a reception like that at all. FH has back issues and needs support to sit, can't stand for very long periods, so this would be agonizing for him. I would also be unhappy and uncomfortable. Also not to mention I wouldn't want to spend money on a dress, or wear a nice dress I already have, and get it snagged by the wood.

Chiming in with - you don't have to be old or elderly to have back problems. I would be very uncomfortable after an hour or two of sitting on benches. Maybe rent nice folding chairs.

Sounds uncomfortable. We have several venues that are basically public parks and all of our clients there have rented actual tables and chairs.

Not a fan. i would also hope I would not be required to dress up because depending on the benches, I don't want tears or rips in my clothes from the unfinished bench seats.

It really depends on how long your ceremony. I say anything under an hour picnic benches will do!

I'm not a big fan. In addition to the back support problem people have already mentioned, I wouldn't want to climb in and out of a picnic table in a long/maxi dress and heels. I'd trip or get caught on something and fall. And then splinters if they're made of wood or nails poking out and catching on clothing.

As cute as this could be I don't think it's terribly practical.

I would say less than ideal -- most women wear a dress to a wedding, and having to pick your legs up over a bench to get up and down = possibly flashing people.

Maybe add seats at the ends of each picnic table for those needing back support?

I get dressed up for weddings. I really don't feel like having to worry about crotch shots all night and splinters in my ass. They aren't easy to get in and out of.

Seats with backs are a MUST for me. I went to a barn wedding and after 30 minutes of sitting on a hay bale, my back was screaming. There were seats with backs available at the reception, thank goodness!

I'm sorry, I'm a younger person who's had back issues since they were 22 and I'm not able to sit for more than 30 min without a back on the seat. Please adjust your plans.

I've been to a wedding like this, the family is very laid back and it wasn't a problem at all.
