Picking up the cake

Sarah, on June 24, 2017 at 8:56 PM Posted in Planning 0 25

I want to know what everyones opinion is on this. I'm stressed out of my mind. And my mom just told me that i (the bride) have to pick up my wedding cake and take it to the venue. Has the bride ever picked up her own cake the morning where she should just be focused on marrying her husband to be? I told my mom to designate someone to pick it up but she wont is this something i should make someone do?... i ordered my cake through sams club because my orginal baker just all of a sudden backed out.

Will you have a Day of Coordinator? They usually do the errands the day of so the bride can an concentrate on getting married.

I am able to get mine delivered for an extra $30. Could your baker swing something like that?

Why can't it be delivered? Could you get it delivered?

I know some people pick it up but usually its delegated to someone else. Why is your mom so against having someone pick it up?

You will have so many other things on your mind you don't need to stress about it, not to mention depending on the style of cake, how big, ect your car may not even be able to transport it correctly. Talk to FH see if someone on his side or even a GM can get it if it absolutely can't be delievered

Why are just finding out it has to picked up five days before your wedding?

Ours does free delivery within a certain amount of miles. Even if it isn't free I would pay to get it delivered.

Ours is part of our wedding package so it's being delivered. I definitely would not want to pick up my cake on the wedding day. I'd see if there is any way you could pay to get it delivered.

Yeah, designate someone to be in charge of this. Our baker required pick up because our order was so small monetarily. Can your FH help? A trusted friend?

Do you have a Day of coordinator? Or a wedding planner of any sort? They should pick it up.

Otherwise, I hate hate hate to say this, but ask a trusted guest- mine would be my dad- to pick it up and take it.

Ugh OP I'm very sorry for your backed out baker. What crap.
